Come on. We all know he's coming back to shatter all the NBA trio records. With LMA coming in, there's even less of an offensive load on Manu. Especially if Patty is now staying.

Assuming LA comes the Spurs would have to find some cheap vets to fill roster. (Caron butler, boozer, neal, etc) also wouldn't be surprised to see the Spurs bring over Jean Charles or even Bertans from Europe. Bertans is recovering from knee surgery but he was almost a for sure lock to come over this summer before he got hurt.

Getting Gary Neal back would be clutch. But also unlikely.

Why don't we just bring back Sean Elliott and Bruce Bowen and call it a day. Also throw in Avery and David for good measure.

No thanks on Neal, except then I could bring back my NEAL WITH IT gif.

If Boozer and Butler want to gravy train for the vet min, I am great with that.

Baynes would likely be gone and Bonner would likely be back. Spurs will evaluate in SL as well. Cady LaLanne could be a dark horse candidate to replace Ayres.

Spurs could also elect to look at James Anderson again. He had a solid season for Philly last year.

+1

I don't think he's coming out of retirement though. He'd be lethal in the Spurs system though. He'd be great stretching the floor situationally.

Most Spurs fans hate him, but he would be a great pickup. Since he didn't join the Cavs for a playoff run last year I think he is done for good.

Can't hate him for making a super clutch shot. I mean I get it, but hate for it? I dunno how you can hate Jesus Shuttlesworth lol

Allen is done. Getting back in playing shape when you have been out of the game for two years is no easy feat, especially when you are pushing 40.

You are new to being a Spurs fan, aren't you? Spurs hate for Allen is a lot older than 2013.

I just hate his smug look he constantly has that looks like he just caught his best friend banging his woman. Love his game.

Earlier he said he'd announce his decision this week via an Argentinian newspaper. Given that we are already mid-week and past the start of FA, this may indicate that he's waiting to see if the Spurs strike gold before committing for one last season.

Sounds like Spurs' meeting with Aldridge has been over for a bit. Lasted around two hours, give or take.

No. Not new at all. I don't see a reason to hate Ray Allen but that is not something worth debating

Wonder how long Lamarcus drags this out. I'm hoping he will at least make a decision tonight and cancel with the Knicks tomorrow.

Need to add this one to the watchlist once all the craziness happens.

No way this was as nuts as the Jason Kidd off-season. That was insufferable!

From Spurstalk. Leaked transcript of LMA meeting.

    quote:
Pop: Look, LaMarcus, I'm not going to blow smoke up your ass. We feel that you will be a perfect fit for the Spurs culture, on and off the court. If you feel the same, let's make it happen.

    Parker: *chewing*

Aldridge: I can't lie, I'm intrigued with the possibility. What would the team look like next season?

Duncan: *logs out of World of Warcraft* Just to let you know, I'll be returning.

Buford: In case you haven't heard, we just re-signed Danny Green and traded away Tiago Splitter to open the necessary salary cap space to fit in your maximum contract. *awkwardly large 12-second toothy grin*

Aldridge: Yeah, I just saw that.

Duncan: *logs back in, switches to his level 80 Mage*

    Parker: *chewing*

Pop: Kawhi has agreed to come back, but it won't be official until after all the other pieces fall into place. We're thrilled, as I'm sure he is too.

    Leonard: ...

Aldridge: I might be interested in signing a two-year deal. Would that work for you?

Buford: Sure. We can work with you on any structure you prefer. *awkward grin*

    Parker: *chewing*

Aldridge: Pop, how long do you plan to stick around?

Pop: What the hell else am I going to do? Watching grape vine grow is only entertaining for so long. My wife would kick my ass out of the house a few months into retirement.

    Aldridge: *chuckle*

    Buford: *hearty laugh*

    Parker: *chewing*

    Duncan: *joins dungeon raid*

    Leonard: *blank stare*

Aldridge: I think I'd be a good fit. Do you see any issues?

Pop: You'll be a great fit off the court. On the court, who cares? It's just basketball. We'll win some games and lose some games. Life will go on.

    Aldridge: Hmmm. Alright. Cool.

Pop: Enough of this bull****. Let's eat. The food's getting cold.

    Aldridge: Sounds good to me.

    Pop: Tony! What the hell?

Parker: Oh, yeah, Pop told me to say you be a great character fit in San Antonio and ...

Pop: *interrupts* Not that. Where the hell is your food?

Parker: *looks around sheepishly* I'll take some more foie gras, please.

    Pop: *********it, Tony.

Duncan: *mutters* Ha, I thought he was watching what he ate this summer.

    Pop: *tosses napkin*

    Buford: *nervous laugh*

    Leonard: ...

Aldridge: *chews food while slowly nodding and looking at his potential teammates with squinted eyes*

Not that anyone thought he would, but LMA supposedly informed the Lakers he wouldnt be signing with them. Apparently he "disliked the bball part of the presentation"

Apparently LMA is taking all of his meetings, according to David Aldridge (ESPN guy, not his brother)

    quote:
LaMarcus Aldridge indeed impressed by Spurs, per source, but still plans to complete scheduled meetings w/teams before deciding.

I think that leaves NY and Toronto. Not sure he needs to meet Portland. I think he pretty much knows where they stand.

I still can't believe he's giving either of those teams a meeting. Neither are even close to being in the same galaxy as the Cavs. Their ceiling would be losing in the conference finals every year.

Stein says that LMA wasn't that interested in the Lakers, but didn't tell them they were out of the running, either.

The longer this drags out (and this is probably defensive pessimism or BAS or something), the more I believe Lamarcus really doesn't intend to leave Portland and is just doing all this to feel the love.

I may be wrong and he might be in silver & black by tonight, but it just seems like the typical Spursy thing to do is know what you want and go with it, not stringing a bunch of teams along. I know Tim visited Orlando back in the day, but that was really the only other team he had any interest in (due to proximity to his home land and appeal of Doc coaching). I don't remember him taking meetings with 8 teams, 5-6 of which had no chance whatsoever to see him play there. Something just seems off here. Even Broussard was saying he was visiting with too many teams.
