Right now, I watch basically every Spurs game regular season and playoffs. I suspect that when Duncan and Manu retire, I'll go to watching important games and highlights for Leonard. If it weren't for him, I would be done with the NBA. I used to like Lebron, but he plays with Wade who I can't stand. I liked the Rockets until they picked up Harden. There's not much left for me.

This would be the perfect situation IMO. Pop stays until Duncan decides to retire (prob with Gino). Duncan takes over as coach or assistant coach to whatever prospect we already have. Then Parker becomes a co-coach with Duncan once he retires while they each sit back in awe at kl's prime years. Buford still finds prospects along with assistant gm ginobili. All is right in the world...

I'm Spurs all the way win or lose. Don't need any other players or teams to root for. I'll be there through the 30 win seasons... if there are any.

I'll always be a Spurs fan, but the NBA as a whole gets a little harder to watch every year.

I don't think Duncan wants to stay on to coach. I think he wants to hang out, smoke pot and play video games with his kids.

Yeah Duncan will spend half his time working on cars in the states an the other half on the beach in the VI.

But definitely agree with the sentiments posted above. I love these guys, I can't imagine the NBA without them.

I so badly want Timmy to get another one before he hangs it up.

Ive come to know that this is the one team I care about more than A&M football. Last year finally made me see that.

I dont relate to the A&M football team that much anymore. While football is far and away my favorite sport, I dont have a rooting interest in the individual players quite like I do for the Spurs. Dont get me wrong, Im a football season ticket holder of 4 years (every year since Ive graduated) and watch every game. I absolutely love the sport and the team. But part of the reason I like the Spurs more is because the Spurs have allowed me to root for basically the same group of guys for 15 years. Ive grown up watching the same players I am still watching in my mid-late 20s.

My childhood hero was always David Robinson. He has always been my favorite athlete of all time. But I was thinking the other day, and it just might be at minimum a tie between he and Tim Duncan. I was always real young while David was in his prime and playing. But Ive grown up watching Timmy year in and year out. I know how stupid this is, but I was genuinely sad for Tim last year after they lost. I felt terrible for him and the whole team. It felt personal watching them lose. Ill truly be ecstatic if they are able to win one more.

Also, how big is it that Harden isn't on this team anymore?

So true. The Thunder need a 3rd scorer and in those days, often Harden had better stats than Westbrook or even Durant on some nights.

Really does show though how valuable Ibaka is to the Thunder. Last night was a clinic on paint scoring.

Really does show you how poorly they played Miami in the finals after leaving everything on the court to beat San Antonio that year. Seriously, San Antonio was dang good in 2012 too... but OKC came out and just played lights out. Then laid a big fat turd on the NBA Finals.

You are not a good person Brian. Jk
It's funny how such a small expression from Timmy can be such a big deal because of his melancholy demeanor for the most part. That's the most upset I have ever seen Timmy.

Our 2012 team was good but nowhere near as good defensively as the last 2 spurs teams (2013 and present team). All the advanced defensive numbers show this as well. Ultimately we lost to OKC because we couldn't get a damn stop. They hit some unbelievable shots (Harden step back comes to mind) but the Spurs are much better today. Tony and Tim are even better today (unbelievable). A better Manu is probably the only clear advantage the 2012 spurs would have over todays.

At the end of the day the Spurs got back to where they are because they started playing defense again. The years of 2009-2012 resulted in the worst defensive spurs teams of the Duncan era and it showed. During that time though, Pop mastered his offense.

That's when he knew it was over. He blew an easy layup that would've tied the game, one he makes 19 times out of 20.

Sigh. I hate thinking about that series, I just hate it.

That's why the Spurs must win this year. Would make it all that much sweeter and remove the stain from 2013.

We need to stop bringing up the Finals series from last year. It's still physically painful.

That video is why I sit through every playoff game like my life depends on it.

That video is why I experienced bone crushing depression for a few days after Game 6 last year.

That video is why I love this team fully realizing that it won't last much longer.

And I love this group of guys. This has been my favorite group of players to watch through the Duncan era. It just seems like such a tight closely knit team. They all seem to genuinely enjoy each other.

Have fun at the game tonight! I am jealous.

I am really curious to see what changes Brooks makes. I think Brooks will start out with Perkins, Collison, Durant, Sefolosha and Westbrook, but will quickly confirm what he already knows: that the Spurs poor 3rd Qtr performance against that lineup was a fluke and not a trend. That lineup just can't outscore the Spurs for long periods.

My guess is we see Jackson, Westbrook, Durant, Butler and Adams as much as any other lineup.

The thunder need to get about 15-20 from both Butler and Jackson and need Durant and Westbrook to end up with 60 points between them on at least 50% FG percentage. They also need to shoot at least 10 more FTs than the Spurs and win the turnover battle. If all of that doesn't happen then I think the Spurs cruise again by double digits.

Gotta win tonight and keep home court. The team worked hard for it.

I'm going with a close Spurs win tonight. Spurs start great, OKC makes it interesting, and Spurs close it out down the stretch.

Would be great for the Spurs to take care of business in Game 2 and give the old guys and Tony's hamstring 3+ days of rest. If Spurs win by 10+ again tonight, I'm thinking OKC folds and this could end up being a sweep. The loss of Ibaka is just too much. Sucks for OKC to lose one of their top 3 players in the playoffs for the second year in a row.
