So that's down 15, yet he only signed 5 high schoolers. FIVE! And so far two portal additions, so that's a net loss of -8. And we all know this teams history of off season injuries so you could take out another 3-5, last year it was more than 5

What if they don't have enough women to field a team due to injuries?

Very much resembles what is happening in women's basketball program. Mass exodus of players with only partial replacements. Quality loss is obvious. And we have the problem (Toxic G in Soccer) returning to finish burning down what's left. Sad we have to put up with that for another year then spend another couple of years rebuilding with a new coach.

i think you are being a bit dramatic - G was able to keep the bench and his goal keeper

oh well have enough players, just none that have played any meaningful minutes in an sec game and I think we have a handful that have score a goal

Uh oh… a thread about Coach G is on the premium board! I can only imagine what's going on in there. All of us here saw this exodus coming and we prepared the past few weeks if not month about what was to come! To the common fan, they are just realizing that all of our returning starters decided to leave our program.

Could someone start one about the WBB coach, too? She has got to go. Now.

You got 3 million to buy her out. We won't buyout G for third of that amount
Perhaps, but that would be about as smart as handing over $3million to the US Government.

I was just stating that more out of indifference (because they are both awful). To G's defense, he has won here; that time has passed, though, and I doubt we see those results from him ever again.

I've also stated that the only solution TA has for WBB at this time appears to be to let her contract run out. She is going thru the motions and has no desire to be here from what we can tell. We thought having someone with USA basketball ties would be great for our program. However, it's distracted from our program, and she isn't capable of bringing in the elites apparently. We need a coach that lives and breathes our school like (Mark Weaver, Buzz Williams, Trevor Chadwell, Trisha Ford, and Jamie Morrison...and we had that with Gary Blair).

Sad to see. I'd love to see her succeed but she just does not have the ability to coach fundamentals, get thru to her players, and turn these athletes into competitors at this time. Yesterday, we looked like a poorly coached Rec team.

My frustration is we have an AD that really doesn't care about Non Rev sports. If we're gonna suit up and have Texas A&M on the jersey we should play to win. I can see where WBB has gotten nuts with coaches salaries compared to the money it loses. But we're not paying G that much, you could say we are overpaying him.

I guess is the strategy by the AD, he doesn't think those of us that support non rev sports make any impact. But I can tell you I'm not giving one more dime to this AD. In fact I'm not sure i'll renew either soccer or WBB next year. And frankly i have my football tickets with family, if they wanna drop, I'm fine with that.

It just sucks living in BCS and have so several sports suck ass.

This whole thing seems bizarre really. TA should just come out and say what he really thinks. What the hell is his plan. If he doesn't plan to support these programs, then just admit it instead of this ridiculous path. Otherwise, he is coming across as an incompetent jackass.

I agree with you 100%, but I also really hope that is not the case. You can see how they've already dicked the tennis teams around by promising an indoor facility and pulling back on that promise. It seems as if they are only investing in football and baseball (and maybe men's basketball). All the other sports, be damned. Fortunately, we have coaches in a few of the NR sports that are making names for themselves and are just winners. The problem I have with WBB is that there are CONSTANTLY excuses as to why they cannot win. Roster is too injured and can't practice, not enough players, etc. Guess what - that's YOUR job to ensure they are practicing, developing, etc. It's your job to coach and develop. It's your job to stop the bleeding on the court when things aren't going your way. She literally just stands with her arms crossed and watches as her team throws the ball away 8 consecutive times down the court. There is just not a culture of winning and you see this in all sports. When you are winning and want to desperately be a part of that, you work thru bumps and bruises. Ugh - it just is what it is; it's not going to get any better and she was most definitely the wrong hire. What a freaking slap in the face to GB.

College athletics was changed forever with the House case. There is a 75 year old judge in the Northern District of California that has taken the entire "industry" and changed it forever. It sucks. There is no balance. This judge has no interest or background in the future of college sports. The court decisions make it a hardcore business, not the amateur friendly sport that was once great. It will be great for many "student athletes" playing the "right" sports because they will make more money in college athletics than they ever could hope to in the pros, not so much for those playing the "other" sports. Texas A&M and every other P4 school has to find $20M annually forever (and this amount will grow with inflation) for "NIL" from the school.

There is a settlement being discussed currently regarding the allocation of this $20M annual amount. When you guys find out how this court decision is going to impact some of the sports you love here at A&M, you are going to be quite disappointed.

The currently expected allocation would be:
75% - Sport A
15% - Sport B
5% - Sport C
5% - Every other sport to split this remaining 5%

What you will see in the near future is which secondary sports universities value and which ones they don't. Let's take women's soccer. If the current agreement is put in place, each school will have up to 28 spots to fill for players. Schools can now decide to fully fund the program and make all 28 slots full scholarships. Some schools will take advantage of this while others will put their money elsewhere. Same goes for revenue sharing. The decisions on which secondary sports get some revenue sharing can greatly affect the ability to recruit. You have schools who will fully fund all 28 possible slots plus provide certain players with a portion of the revenue sharing while others will only partially fund the 28 possible slots and not provide any additional monetary incentives. It is already happening with the '25 and '26 classes and will continue to further differentiate the haves from the have nots.

I made an adjustment to your Sport B putting a men's in front of it. Your Sport C is not the one currently envisioned by the judge in the settlement.

Football
Men's Basketball
Baseball
The field

I have a big issue with this decision. If they want to carve out Football and Men's Basketball for 90% of this pool and that is driven by the market and brand value and revenue, then I can make an argument for that.

However, the first 5% being defined to one particular sport is very poorly thought out. Why should every school have to follow the same top down driven formula? Let the schools decide how to allocate this entire final 10%. For Penn St, they might want a bigger allocation for wrestling. For Nebraska, it may be women's volleyball. For A&M, baseball may get a bigger chunk. Etc.

There may not be college athletics soon

This is from less than a month ago. It is a definitely a moving thing. I very much hope schools are in full control but the prevailing thought from recently is that only 5% would be.

No one likes a government solution but that is preferred over a judge ordered solution. The Ted Cruz group would at least be hearing from the industry about what is best for long term success and sustainability as opposed to the judge doing what they deem as "fair" for the entire industry and wronged student athletes.

the other thing Trev point out this summer was whatever is done will also go to court, so the target will constantly be moving.

Not sure when congress steps in, but I don't see it helping but makig things worse

I think the most frustrating result that could possibly happen is that G takes the new group of players and exceeds expectations and then gets extended. And by exceeds I mean treads water instead of sink like a rock.

How long do you want to ignore this user?
It really is sad to watch a program I've followed closely for over 20 years sink to depths I never thought possible. We really are following Florida's example and we will probably be the worst team in the SEC next year.

Also, I think folks need to prepare for the possibility that Trev might eliminate the program altogether. Not all minor sports will survive in this new era. It would explain why he's not making any changes in the program and letting Coach G finish his contract and revoking the new facility plan because maybe there won't be a need to hire another coach or build anything new.

There are rumors in Washington that Title IX will be revisited by the Supreme Court soon. I wouldn't count on it being the law forever without some revisions.
