I'm not sure what Trev will do here, but I do think he will swing for the fences at least once before settling on another candidate, similar to what he did with baseball (Vitello was VERY close to taking the job). So, in this case, don't be surprised if we make an aggressive offer to someone like Brian Pensky at FSU. He's 55 years old and still in his prime. He did a great job at Tennessee and consistency beat Coach G as well when there. Elite recruiter .Would be a great hire.
If we can't land a current conference champion Power 4 Head Coach like Bell (he has to be the top target) or Jeff Hosler (who's done a great job at Michigan St in only 3 yrs), would y'all prefer a head coach from a mid major or a promising young Power 4 Associate Head Coach like Nick Zimmerman from Miss St?

It really depends what we're offering. A new stadium with a huge salary would make it a tough decision. A&M has the potential to be an elite program with the right setup.GigEm200$ said:

I have missed seeing conversations/plans regarding a new stadium. Could you please advise regarding the presence of same on a thread or TAMU web site?

Some plans have been circulating for a while and the approval for funding has happened. Not sure when actual plans will be released or if there will be a funding round with donors first. But it should happen soon, unless the AD cuts by Trev have impacted the timing.

Last night we saw MSU celebrate a perfect SEC season and 1st championship in the program's history on Ellis Field. The architect of that team is Associate Head Coach, Nick Zimmerman. He is a 36 year old former professional soccer player who combines great technical understanding of the game with charisma.
Zimmerman is going to get a head coaching job and the one he takes, will be a top 5 national power for decades.
If the decision to move on from G is made, Zimmerman is right behind Eric Bell as the best fit to take over the program.

These plans aren't moving forward as originally envisioned. AD budget cuts.
The Aggies should go for James Armstrong - Head Coach at Mississippi State.
If he can bring that program to #3 in the country he can succeed at A&M. He's young and I believe got his start coaching in Texas somewhere.

Starting looking at some current results, rankings, and rosters. There are 4 that I've identified:
Eric Bell, TCU
James Armstrong, Miss State
Manny Martins, Utah State
Mark Krekorian, former FSU current Washington Spirit front office
Those are the 4 that I'd be after right now.

Coaches under contract move all the time.
Women's soccer coaching contracts aren't going to stop anyone from moving on to another job.
Armstrong is viable, program on the rise, still in his mid 40s....what you have to like is the MSU roster consists of 2/3 star talent (especially those from TX)....coaching and system has made them a solid team
The older coaches....might as well stick with G...not looking for a 1-2 yr fix....let's get someone who can build a long-term winner

Manny Martins at Utah State just got extended thru 2027 there. That won't matter if he wants to come to A&M though.

Another name to throw in the mix...Wes Hart from Alabama. Solid recruiter, most of his success came from 1 season w/ a 5th yr senior laden team, but he is still on the rise.
Soooo overdo for a change. Let's not completely bury the program (like we did with Women's Basketball) before we make a change. We see the positive impact in other Sports.

One win since Sept 29. One and done at the SEC tournament. Likely will not make the NCAA tournament for the second time in 4 years.
I don't know where G ranks in terms of salary with other D1 coaches, but I am sure he is one of the more well compensated given his overall record and longevity in the role. But I think it is time to move on. Like others have mentioned, a short-term fix is not what is needed. This roster has holes all over it and most of the players are not up to par with the teams of Aggie past. Going for a younger coach that can build this program long-term is where we should go. I don't follow women's college soccer nationally all that closely so I will defer on who to hire to those who know more. (Although, I would look very closely at that Mississippi State staff as well as the staffs at Arkansas and TCU). If we hire correctly, I would not mind having a coach be in charge for the next 20 years. I think a change is overdue and I would reckon a buy-out is in the $500k range. Time to close this chapter and start a new one.

If it's a done deal I question why nothing has been announced yet. The sooner it officially opens, the sooner you announce to potential applicants that the job is available before they settle up in their current spots with extensions.
