We didn't hire Tottenham Hotspur to be our coach, we hired a coach who coached Tottenham Hotspur to be our coach.

Poch has his weaknesses and liabilities but as Jjxvi mentioned a page back, his preferred tactics are a great fit for the talent. Just keep him away from talent identification, let the international aspect keep him from burning out, and this should be a solid move.
Quote:
Maurico Pochettino tactics, coaching style
The Argentine boss employs a high pressing tactical style, employing a 4-2-3-1 formation which utilizes an intense counter-press that looks to win the ball back in dangerous areas, often at the sacrifice of the team's defensive structure. However, Pochettino is known for his flexibility, and has a strong familiarity with the 4-3-3 that the U.S. often found itself in under Gregg Berhalter.
While Pochettino's teams show intensity after losing the ball, they also insist on building from the back in possession and reaching the opposition half in an organized set-up, which suits the international football game.
Unfortunately, Pochettino may have to be flexible when it comes to his heavy usage of talented full-backs or even wing-backs in advanced areas, as it is not a position of great depth in the United States. He loves to bomb a full-back high up the pitch (think Nathaniel Clyne at Saints, or Kieran Trippier at Spurs), with the three trailing defenders providing back-line cover and the winger on that side drifting centrally (think Heung-Min Son at Spurs, or Kylian Mbappe at PSG) to make room out wide and create attacking overloads.
Where Pochettino may be especially useful at a high-level CONCACAF side is up against defensive low blocks, which he managed against often when PSG matched up against most other Ligue 1 sides. Even loaded with such talented attacking talent at PSG, Pochettino had to teach the likes of Mbappe and Neymar intricate passing moves to break down bunkered opponents. The USMNT, in turn, has often had trouble breaking down bunkered opponents when matching up against the numerous lower-tier football nations within its own confederation, and Pochettino's experience in this area will be critical.
However, the Argentine's tactics can at times be too detailed, an area of concern at his first national team job. At Chelsea, Pochettino's young squad struggled to grasp the intricacies of his high press, which resulted in strong attacking volume but also continued defensive breakdowns.
A hallmark of Pochettino's coaching style is his reputation as a manager who players enthusiastically support. According to multiple reports, Chelsea players were "shocked" and "unhappy" with Pochettino's dismissal earlier this summer, just the latest example of his managerial style being well received by the squad.
Capable is an understatement. Poch probably walks in the door a top 5 international manager.OregonAggie said:

Also he does utilize some formalwear on the sidelines on occasion, so I'm excited for the several of you who think that's important.
The only person outside of Ggg and his family that didn't want him to get fired is you.aggiebird02 said:Come on, guys, y'all know I'm not trolling, nor trying to be funny or clever.Rudyjax said:aggiebird02 said:

I didn't want Gregg to be fired, but it happened. I want another former player as the coach, and Cherundolo is the guy.
Just to add, Gregg was a very successful USMNT coach. I have zero confidence in this foreigner…

we do have some full backs with speed, fitness, and attacking skills that will get forward and make effective overlapping runs. just not that many of them. Dest and Antonee for sure. We just don't have that many of them. At all. ....and then I think most of our CB depth is too slow to allow playing with wing-backs or having a full back get too high.
