Would be a better coach if he was flexing some Avia high tops.

But it's a Nike team, so I'm sure he gets all his shoes comped…

He should try wearing the exclusive Air Jordan 4 'Tactics'.

I started watching the 2nd half. We had some good possession and a great goal. Then Mckennie, Reyna, Weah and others subbed out. Back line has multiple shaky moments leading to scoring chances for Colombia. Midfield and outside backs decide to put their head down and dribble into shins rather than play soccer, leading to multiple counter attacks and Colombia was clinical on their counters. We were not able to break lines once the subs came in IMHO. It's an eye opener.

Damn. I didn't watch the game but there is no way Columbia has 5-1 more talent.

They might have 5-1 more coaching, though. US Soccer deserves every self-inflicted bad thing that happens. Leadership of clowns to rehire GB.

That was my point.

Hey ho. . Ggg has got to go.

If you don't watch the game you can't be part of the conversation...

Will be interesting to see how the team responds both in effort and tactically. I think they all know the situation and the pressure. Even USSF will make a managerial change if the team produces a flame out this summer.

It is a little humorous to me that seemingly the vast majority of fans have wanted Berhalter gone for months/years...to the point that they actively lamented wins...and now they're angry when the team loses. I get it of course. It's not fun watching the team lose. But if you really want Berhalter gone, this is how it has to start.

Once USSF decided to bring him back, Copa America was always going to be what he was measured against. If you want a different manager for 2026, then every beat down makes that closer to reality. USSF isn't getting rid of him if he squeaks out of the group and then gets beat down in the QFs. They aren't getting rid of him even if he doesn't get out of the group but looks reasonably decent.

If you want Berhalter gone, then you need the USMNT to look embarrassingly bad for the next 4 weeks or so. So in that context...job done.

Should maybe add that I personally am very ambivalent about Berhalter. I don't think he's an elite coach capable of taking this team to a QF+ run in the WC but I also don't think his replacement will be able to either. I don't think the talent pool, though historically deep and talented, is deep or talented enough to challenge the elite and I don't have a lot of faith in USSF replacing Berhalter with an elite coach to help compensate for that.

You really think it's just because of this game? I only watch games with USMNT are playing.

We have more than enough talent to not lose to Columbia 1-5.

It's bigger than just this game and you know it.

We can only hope this is the beginning of a quick spiral that ends with the firing of GGG

Won't happen before world cup though, so probably not worth putting that energy out there

I will be shocked if we waste our one shot at hosting a WC in my lifetime trusting in a coach that has been a lame duck for 4 years.

Why be shocked, US Soccer is more concerned with woke crap than winning.

That is true.. kinda happy we got smoked in the pride jerseys. "Pride goeth before a fall"

It's especially galling that the anniversary of D Day was two days prior where we stepped into to lead saving the planet as a united country. There could have been some nods to that as a country. Instead, we get rainbows. The gay pride flags and colors do not and should not take precedence over the red, white, and blue on a kit for the US NATIONAL TEAM.

I realize the gay crowd and allies have largely hijacked several MLS clubs. That's fine. It's your club team and is indicative of the area of country you live in. But this is the National team. The country's flag should always take precedence over 5% of the population that gets to officially hijack our country for one month out of the year.

Hope we lose every match we play in these kits. It's not America's team until they stop wearing them as far as I'm concerned.

Thanks for listening to my Ted talk rant.

We have enough talent at this point to at least progress to the knockout rounds, but in general I agree with you.

What's gonna be really fun is if Marsch starts killing it with the Canadian team.

Canadian team that was everyone's dark horse at the WC I don't think so they really don't have anyone elite outside of Davies

I equate the USMNT situation to be a bit like supporting a club team with crappy owners. It almost doesn't matter what kind of players you might manage to get on your team because you know the crappy owners are going to screw up the big decisions.

USSF are the Glazers of national team soccer.

Mexico excluded several of their stars from their squad this summer for copa to get young guys ready for the future. Their first warmup ahead of copa went horribly bad but in their second warm up last night at Kyle Field, they looked comfortable, technically sound and tactically smart. Maybe USMNT will be similar: horrible in first warm up, maybe they'll look decent v Brazil in second warm up and be ready to cruise through group stage and have a good showing in copa America after all.

However, my $ is on greggg getting himself fired for the second time at the end of July. We can't go to 2026 and another whole cycle this disorganized and uninspired with the quality of the player pool he has available to him.

So most think this team gets smoked by Brazil Wednesday? Anyone think they bounce back with an improved performance?

Brazil is a tough matchup for us for sure. I do think we'll clean things up on the defensive end. (Jedi can't play that bad two games in a row, right?) Might be impossible for this group to shutout the Brazilians but I bet we see a more focused and intense showing.

The biggest problem with actually fixing any issues with this team is that after years of demanding this type of skilled continental European attacking prototypes to fill the whole team, it has largely actually been accomplished, but the team no longer has any strengths that can be relied upon. Team defense and commitment is bad. Set pieces are bad. Theres not an "anti-GGG" you could hire that would win big with these players, its honestly probably more a project suited to a Mourinho type that will find and demand 8 players play defense if necessary to win a particular game

You're absolutely right.

The things that used to characterize USMNT in the past are gone. We have better players, in many cases far better… but we have no identity. We used to win games by playing great defense and playing for set pieces and you're spot on that those are our weaknesses now.

It doesn't matter how many beautiful one-touch passes we can make to look like we're now a sophisticated team… we give up points far too easily and yet still also struggle to score despite having really talented players on that end of the pitch.
