Don't forget to vote for my adopted son and the actual kid of an Aggie Kennedy Fuller.

Can I get a chart of which former USMNt players get along?

It's pretty easy with Wynalda, he doesn't get along with anyone.

The problem is that two of the biggest voices out there in Wynalda and Lola's are dicks. Clint is cool, Donovan talks like an elder statesmen and that annoys the younger guys who have caught or surpassed his club level success already. But it's kind of fun to see the passion eveyone has for the USMNT.

Its a tough choice, because you really need to be in Europe to test and push yourself to be great and get great training.
But if you aren't playing then you also aren't developing, as you need game reps to truly improve.

There aren't many former players turned pundits that I actually like or respect in the pundit role. 99% of the time they are merely a name to drive engagement and if they spout a bunch of crap...even better because crap drives even more engagement. That's not a USMNT specific thing. That's a soccer thing that you see everywhere.

The problem with Lalas and the like is their relatively large voice. At least in the EPL media landscape, there's so much content that if you're willing to the work, you can usually find some reasonable voices (and invariably they are almost always not former players). But Lalas and the others take up so much space that they kind of just dominate the entire landscape. Not that there aren't good USMNT voices, but they are much harder to hear and find just because there aren't that many voices relative to a league like the EPL.

It's actually driven me away from USMNT fandom and engagement. I'm still a fan and still watch them when I can (time difference doesn't help), but if the only easy way to stay engaged outside of the 5 games they have a year is to listen to Lalas and the likes' utter crap...that's a hard pass for me.

Who is this Gio character?

I think you're onto something here…

There's plenty to be said about sports punditry or even civil discourse across our society at large.

Those are worthy topics, but it is a shame that anyone - paid pundit or random interweb poster wastes their time arguing with anyone about Gio still. Hopefully he'll be worth arguing about someday, but I think something's wrong between the ears and he's going to be a waste of talent. Hope he proves me wrong.

(and yes, I fully recognize the irony of me posting this)

Kyle Martino is about the only one that I can listen to and say "he at least thought about that point before he said it" to myself. Cobi Jones could be good but his voice doesn't carry today.

I do with Clint Dempsey would get the mic more often. The things he preaches about are important to the aspiring youth player. he talks about getting out and just playing with the ball, trying things out and having fun. Less organized soccer with coaches screaming their heads off and joysticking players. But he also talks about himself alot so that steals the credibility.

I really don't pay much attention to any of them. They're all talking heads. Like all media, they are out for clicks and views, and nothing really more than that.

As you can see, I don't follow Wynalda. It just came up on my feed.

I fall into this camp. Discussion of soccer by pundits does not make me watch more or less of the sport.

I do like Kyle Martino, and I don't mind Taylor Twellman when he is just talking tactics and not getting into "look at me" arguments with the other former player knuckleheads.

Let's talk about growth and the future of this kid.

He'll be 22 in a month.

Signed with NTX/FC Dallas at 15.
13 appearances with NTX SC in 2019-2020. 9 goals
55 appearances with FC Dallas in 2019-2021. 15 goals.
15 appearances with Augsburg at the age of 18-19
29 appearance with FC Groningen. 12 goals at 18-19.
40 appearances with PSV. 16 goals at 20-21.

The only reason he's not starting is he's behind their team captain.

I would love to see him back in the Bundesliga as a starter somewhere on a Champions League team.

Edit: And after I posted this, fotmob told me he's starting today.

Yeah, the venn diagram for him is just a circle. He also just literally picks fights on twitter which is beyond annoying, dude is in his mid50s.

Guess his prime was scoring some goals in the German 2nd tier for 1 year. He played 2 years in the first tier. The first one was decent where he score 8 goals in the first part of the year and then went ice cold. In his 2 year he scored 0 goals in 22 matches as a forward. He was relegated both times.

Pulisic subbed out the 38' injured.

He had the ball and was dribbling and made a pass and just walked. He didn't challenge for the ball near him after that.

I'm thinking it's a hammy. Hopefully just precautionary.

He didn't even go down.

He had a hard fall a few minutes earlier. Looks precautionary.

Zlatan's job in this documentary is to market Milan and Pulisic.

I wonder how much this has to to do with some of our players just not succeeding in Europe.

We know this happened to Pulisic at Chelsea and happens every year to McKennie.

It's a combination of anti-US bias and the fact the players just aren't good enough.

This might be a topic for a different thread, but IMO, the biggest hurdle is that most US players can't move professionally to Europe until they turn 18. While this benefits European national teams by maintaining a high barrier for entry, it limits access for players from the US (and Mexico and South America and Africa and Asia) to the top-tier training and development available in European leagues.

Non-European players, unless they are clearly superior, miss out on the same physical and mental training during those formative teenage years.

HOw much do you think it helps with these kids going pro now at 16-18 rather than waiting until after college? PLaying MLS Next, etc. In the past, this was not an option.
