Yeah that was definitely a tough volley to hit with his left foot/shin

McKennie with a great Champions league goal.

His 9th. He may catch Pulisic this year.

Watched the game, he looked like he was 100% and very involved. Hope his road to recovery is over
(100% meaning physically not his form)

I would not have suspected that Pepi was that fast. wow. big names below him, like Vini Jr, who everyone knows is really fast without clocking him.

Vini jr. might be quicker, so it looks like he's faster.
Quickness is more important.

yes agreed that quickness - quick decision-making as well as quick-twitch muscle fibers and movement - are the most important in this sport. I just never would have guessed there could be a week where Ricardo Pepi would top the list of fastest clocked speed over those players below him, just from having seen them run, never would have guessed it. Happy to see it though.

Yeah, the tall guys don't look like they're moving. I wouldn't have expected Haaland to be up there either.

Fotmob says Pepi is #8 for the season in Champions League, so it's not just a lucky week.

But, to the point of perception - I think a lot of it is playstyle. PSV in the Champions League is gonna be playing cautious on defense and look for more long balls over the top to their 9. We don't play that way in USMNT very often at all, so we don't think of Pepi as a sprinter.

just happy to see his name on a list like that, with company like that.

Tall guys can usually sprint great. They can't do it often though. I.e. they don't have as much stamina/endurance due to weight.

Haaland only covers 5mi per 90 and spends 1.9 of that walking.

been watching the "goat" Leo Messi mostly walk on the pitch for 20 years now. it's like he needs the ball at his feet to make a run.

Optimal height range for endurance is 5'6" to 5'10, so yeah, he doesn't qualify either.

For sure. I meant it doesn't look like they're going fast.

I don't care how tall a player is, and i don't care if they're a 10, a 7/11, or a #9. I hate seeing attacking soccer players walk so much. all the players on the pitch have to make all the runs.

I disagree. Certain roles within certain tactics can and should run less than others in the same base position.

Thats one of those that he could have just tweaked it slightly or could have hurt something for real, hopefully the former.

Went in kind of noncommittal to a tackle with his foot parallel to the ball, other player kicked through like he was trying to knock the panels off it.

Manager hinted at MCL but didn't specify how bad (sprain or tear). Guess the good news so far is that it's probably not ACL.

I always thought that people that were running constantly were just trying to look like they were doing more than they actually were.
I want efficient movement with purpose, and as an attacker sometimes walking or slightly jogging is also how you lose your mark and drift into space.

Jedi with another start. Goes all 90+ and an assist.

So you were more Messi than Aaronson?
