The thing that many don't realize is that the DP slot is just an accounting mechanism more than anything else.

In order to keep our U22 initiative spots (i.e. be able to carry 3 U22 players who have a much smaller salary cap hit) a team's third DP has to be under $1.6 million (the first two can be any salary). Salaries can be bought down with allocation money in different ways, last season Ring made $1.1 million that was bought down to the max salary cap hit for a non-DP (around 650k).

All the DP tag really means is that we don't have to buy down his salary, at some point we can sign another DP and he can be shifted to a non-DP status (if we have the allocation money available to buy him down).

Haven't seen anything on Dominguez yet, report a few days ago was that he had reportedly verbally but not physically abused his ex and the club has been very proactive with local authorities.

I think Ring has a leadership role on the team that we may not fully appreciate just seeing him 90 minutes each week. I think he is making the team better in the locker room and practice. He can have mediocre games here and there, but he has an intelligence for the game that we can't just write off.

What they have been missing is someone to pull the trigger. Both Urruti and Hoesen seem to have no qualms about letting it rip. If they can put the ball on frame w some consistency, this is team can make some noise.

Also, would love to see Gallagher more consistently use pace up the side when the defense leaves him w space in front.

Need points on the road against Houston.

The biggest addition to our team this year was the subtraction of Pochettino. I really never liked him from early on. So far in Argentina he as 1 assist and no goals on a handful of appearances. AFC realized their mistake quickly which is a good thing.

Totally agree on Pochettino not being ready to contribute and so his absence actually a positive. I don't understand the negativity towards Ring. Both first-half goals went thru him v Vancouver. Sure he can work on not getting needless yellow cards, but he is easily one of our best players still.

Never got a good replay but he was drifting away from goal and Pereira had a bad giveaway, Stuver was racing back as he got chipped from midfield. He didn't make the save then crashed into back of the goal, report is a knee laceration so he should ok.

In better news, beautiful finish by Pereira on the goal. We're winning this 2-1 or 3-1.

Watch the replay, he was out a bit then had to rush up to clear Pereira's really bad giveaway. Has he not been there he would've had to break up a 1v1 coming at him.

Definitely not a good back pass but he didn't help matters. Just put it out. Instead, he hit it right to a Dynamo player and then didn't exactly haul butt back to goal.

For sure his clearance was poor. But if he was sitting back you've got a Houston attacker running free at goal, lose lose situation. But yeah, didn't matter in the end, and with the Dynamo giving Austin that much room they're gonna put a few in.

Both teams much improved over last season which is nice to see.

Best value is on the East Side (probably 129/130 & 134/135). But until the sun sets you will be looking into it for a bit. Crazies (beer showers, but looks really fun tbh, sit behind South Goal).

108 is a nice spot w a good view of the crazies, no sun worries & usually some relatively inexpensive seats.

Gates open 90 minutes before kick. Get there early and just walk around the upper level and take it all in, or get something from vendors/ food stands. And/or pregame at the domain. Taco trucks in the gas station parking lot north of stadium (yucatan) are also very solid. Food/drink inside is really pricey. Don't miss the national anthem. So many great Austin Musicians and i have never been to a venue that consistently has the quality of vocalists for the Star Spangled Banner...

Season ticket holders get (and can most conveniently SELL) their tickets through SeatGeek.

We are very happy season ticket holders. The game/environment was excellent even last year (when we finished at the bottom of the division). This year they have been much more competitive and it has been even better.

There's really not a bad seat in the house, but you'll get a bit better view of the match from up high or feel more into the game from down lower.

that was an ugly game last night. it didn't help we were playing from behind in the 6th minute due to a terrible pass and a dodgy keeper.

i know people have been complaining about Ring this season. but, man did it put a cherry on top of his subpar play last night. he couldn't hit the broadside of a barn.

Don't blame Tarbell at all for the goal, it was a really nice shot and he was shielded from the attacker. Stuver may or may not have made the play, but it wasn't an easy save by any stretch.

Ring is a different story, he's a guy with a ton of value but I don't know that we're using him in the best way. I know he wants to play a bit more of an attacking role, but based on what I've seen the last few matches I'd rather see him sit a bit deeper and have Pereira push up more into the attack. Ring does a ton of work that you don't really notice if you aren't looking for and his misses stand out because of it.

you can check my posts last year. i'm not a huge Stuver fan either. but, i believe he makes that save fairly easily.

as for Ring, I agree he does a lot of stuff people don't give him credit for. unfortunately right now, he's a negative every time he takes a shot.

I think that goal was principally Finley's fault. He centered it right to the bad guys.
