This game obviously leaves a very bad taste in my mouth, but I have to say that I think the teams who deserved to go through, went through.

Sweden definitely looked like the better team today and in the group overall. And Germany is rightly at the bottom of the group.

S. Korea played a solid cup and did much better than anyone expected. Thanks to them, Mexico lives to fight another day.

Hard to argue with that.

I don't think Mexico goes very far in this thing no matter who they're paired up with next round. Germany proved to be in bad form for this tournament and that diminishes that win to me. I also think it was overblown. Germany dominated possession and shots...they just couldn't score. Hell they couldnt score against Korea while having 25+ shots!

I will also say that I've never understood Mexico's inability to make a run at the World Cup. They're always really talented and fun to watch, this current team is an example of that.

I'm now left hoping Mexico does make a good run because I like watching them...I just don't know that it will happen

I tend to agree, but they were trotting out his record in elimination games over the past couple tournaments and it was not great.

After watching some post game Osorio talk, I think the feel is that they like what he has done and dont see another manager who can continue this work.

for 2022 we have some firepower.

Joao Maleck from Porto's U-21 team
Jonathan Gonzalez
Diego Lainez, stand out at the Toulon tournament
Orbellin Pineda,
Rodolfo Pizarro
Erick Gutierrez
and hopefully Lozano develops as well as he does for me in FIFA 18.

With Sweden advancing to the quarters, Mexico lost to two top 8 teams.

So it's clear that Mexico is not a top 8 team, but continues to stay in the 9-16 range, and has been there for the past 20+ years.

Just can't seem to get over that hump, and it doesn't look good for 2022, considering most of this current team just played their last WC.

Rumor is Osorio has a pre-contract ready with USMNT that is only void if he gets an offer from Colombia, but he's more interested in USA since he say the pressure Pekerman was under.
He meets with FMF on July 15th
I think he'll be offered an extension and he will decline it.
