LC getting A LOT of help from Clattenberg!

First LC from from a cross when the ball was out of bounds.

Second goal came from a ghost penalty call.

Fourth goal after Mata gets shattered to a ground with a no call.

Fifth goal comes from a penalty when Blackett clearly wins the ball and gets a red card instead.

LC were allowed to be physical yet he called a foul when united were physical.

Pathetic!

So just watched the highlights w/ the BBC announcer and here are my thoughts:

1st goal) Ball was close but didn't seem to be completely out, announcer agreed
2nd goal) Horrible no call on Vardy and then a worse PK given...definitely robbed there
4th goal) Replay shows Mata slips and the ball was won fairly, nobody even really protested from Man U on it
5th goal) Blackett didn't get the ball and was always going to be behind after giving up possession so easy. Can't go to ground and give the ref a decision to make, especially when he's whistle happy

Worst meltdown I've ever seen from a United side.
Because it was the first time they've ever lost in the EPL after having a 2 goal lead. Pretty remarkable fact really.

I know right? If only I had Chelsea's long list of 2013-2014 trophies, I'd be happy...

Jones, Evans, and Smalling will miss Saturday's game according to van gaal

When you add in Blackett for the red.....do United even have 2 center backs left on the roster? Rojo and who else? I'm guessing Blind will drop back to the back line, and Fletcher will slot back in the holding mid spot. At least we should get to see Luke Shaw.

No telling. Papers are saying Carrick or Fellaini at CB. Both are absurd even if Carrick did play there once or twice 5 years ago.

And I thought Arsenal had depth problems... T&P guys

I thought Carrick and Fellaini were both out with injuries too. Van Gaal just said they will be pulling from one of the youth teams....
Dre_00

That's one reason why it was an absurd notion...though I think Fellaini is training again. Carrick only recently started running again.

The only thing worse than putting Fellaini at CB would be if they asked for a transfer for David Luis and put both of them together at CB. Now that would be entertaining.

Might as well run a 0-6-4.

Oh Rooney...what was that

Stupid foul by Rooney. Lucky to still get the 3 points.

On the bright side, Paddy McNair played great and next week we get to see Mata behind RvP and Falcao.

Idiot Rooney.

Did I hear right? He misses the next 3 games?
Skitch05
How long do you want to ignore this user?
That is up to the EFA. If they deem the challenge to be "violent conduct", then he misses 3 games. I think it was more stupid than violent, so hopefully he is only out one.

Hoping to catch the highlights here in a bit but after glancing at the table, I have to laugh at the fact that we're a point ahead of Liverpool and only 2 behind Arsenal. Granted they've both played tougher schedules to date but the table has been relatively kind to United thus far.

Saw quite a few opinion pieces this week calling for Rooney to be benched any way. I guess they will finally get to find out whether or not he really is just a waste of space, or if they are just completely off base and United's problems are bigger than Wayne Rooney.

One positive I think y'all have going right now is that even in the losses United are scoring goals and always look dangerous in possession. Unfortunately for Liverpool, we aren't getting results and aren't scoring goals either.

Rooney isn't the problem with United.... the lack of experienced and physical defenders is.

That said, I am looking forward to seeing how Mata does behind RvP and Falcao with Di Maria and Herrera (if not injured) beside him. That is pretty much the same situation he was in with Chelsea a couple years back when he had his great season.
Dre_00

Rooney isn't the problem but there's a large portion of the fan base who will never think too fondly of him again. I can't say that I blame them considering some of the shenanigans he's pulled with the club. Die hard fans don't forget. That said, he gets a lot more attention than he deserves for things like his red card. It's his first one in 5 1/2 years for United and yet all of the outlets and newspaper publications are making it their headline story. It's absolutely absurd.

I don't see United's defensive issues curing themselves anytime soon but I thought there was some improvement last game. Give Paddy McNair another start...he played quite well, as did Rojo. Nonetheless, I foresee a lot of inconsistent play and performances over the next couple of months at least.

Well....Rooney is officially suspended for 3 matches and Herrera is out for some time with a fractured rib.

Guess who is coming back to ManU as an ambassador?

Only the best asian player to ever be on the ManU roster.

Ji Sung Park!!!

ManU has to keep their presence in the asian market, haha.

Welbz taking a swipe at LvG and SAF to a large degree. Calm yourself Danny, I still see you miss sitters on a regular basis.

That poachers instinct. Now add everything else he can do, yeesh. Not looking forward to playing him.

Naismith is a whiny piece of trash. Howard is a hot headed overated piece of trash. Roberto Martinez is a hell of manager. De Gea MOTM.

The whole "Let's bring on Fellaini to kill the game off" gave Everton all the momentum. They started playing defensively and the last 10-15 minutes were all Everton. Those saves by De Gea at the end were ridiculous.

All of that said, let's not forget that the first half was all United save for a silly foul by Shaw to give them a PK and Everton really didn't do much the first 35 minutes of the second half outside of about 5 minutes that included their goal. You can see the performances improving. Still a long way to go but they are steadily improving. That's why I laugh when people say the slow start by LvG vindicates Moyes. Like hell it does. LvG has already improved performances since the start of the season. Moyes' team never improved and in fact, probably regressed. Yes, he didn't get a chance to deploy a player like Di Maria but he had two transfer windows to bring in quality players and he brought in one good one and Fellaini. Woodward deserves some of the blame for that but Moyes isn't blameless.

On a side note. 4th place! End the season! End the season!

Now we go into an international break which hopefully will give an opportunity for more players to get healthy (though frankly, I'd take Rafael, McNair, Rojo, and Shaw with Blind acting as a shield over pretty much any injured player). Shaw injury today doesn't seem too bad but we'll see. At West Brom won't be easy a week from Monday and at home to Chelea will be even harder after that. Quality of opposition continues to improve so let's see how we do.
