Can't forget their ratio of girls to guys is like a million to one. So I guess if you're a tool you have a better shot, which leads me to another point...

I copy and pasted this off of the Baylor message board.

"Let us see....

Average SAT: Baylor-1190 Texas A&M-1183 (Baylor wins)

Student Faculty Ratio: Baylor- 16:1 Texas A&M 20:1 (Baylor Wins)

Acceptance Rate: Baylor- 72% Texas A&M - 72% (push)

Freshmen Graduating in 4 years: Baylor -43% Texas A&M -32% (Baylor Wins)

Most Frequent Class Size: Baylor-(20-29) Texas A&M-(30-39) (Baylor Wins)

Classes Taught by Teach Assistants: Baylor - 6 Texas A&M - 25 (Baylor Wins)

All of this comes straight from the Princeton Review website...where they also give Baylor a 79 "academic rating" and Texas A&M a 73."

Dufus,

Over HALF of A&M’s applicants get admitted under the 10% rule, as the same goes for tu (this drastically skews both school’s standardized testing scores, because to more than half of the applicants the scores are virtually meaningless). If the state would do away with this ruling, both A&M and tu would skyrocket in terms of academic rankings and should easily be among the top 10 public institutions in the nation. For such a small class size and with no students automatically admitted, Baylor’s numbers are surprisingly low. If a student wants to pay a lot of money and enjoy small class sizes, they’re wasting a lot of money for settling on Baylor. Any “private” school that hasn’t separated itself more than that from the public institutions is nothing more than a scam.

Not really sure this is a "win". If we dropped the graduation hour requirements on our best majors and dropped the difficulty of the weedout classes, we would have a higher 4 year graduation rate.

Baylor's religious studies requirements really get in the way of their engineering program, despite what the Baylor engineers on here say about the quality of the program. If someone were staying instate to get an engineering degree, I'd advise Rice, A&M, or Texas. There really isn't a good reason to go to Baylor for engineering.

I guess Harvard should make their school more difficult then...It's too easy if 83% of their undergraduates graduate in four years.

Anyone care to explain the Academic Rating scores?

HAHA, you just owned that stupid Cub! Seriously, Baylor's Engineering & Business Schools don't come close to touching A&M's. Nobody outside the state of Texas even knows who or what the hell Baylor is.

this is true. I'm from Arizona. I'm working on my second bacc degree here (first coming from Arizona State).

Why would someone go to Baylor?
1. We can afford to.
2. We've got money
3. We're not farmers or pretend army clowns.

You forgot #4...since you sound like such a wussy f@g, you may as well go hang with the rest of the wussy f@gs.

A lot of people at A&M have money, the difference is that Baylor weenies loooove to talk about it.

The only reason I didn't go to Baylor was that at the time (we're talking 1984-85-ish) the Southern Baptist Convention was discussing taking control of Baylor and leading it in a very fundamentalist direction, which concerned me. Thankfully for Baylor, that didn't happen, but the chance of it was enough that I decided not to go there.

Why did I consider Baylor? I grew up in a small town (Waxahachie) and A&M and Texas were WAAAAY bigger schools than I wanted to attend.

Baylor has an intimate, small campus feel with the benefits of being in a major Div 1 athletic conference. It's a very good school.

Believe it or not, not everyone wants to go to A&M or Texas. It's great that you ags love your school like you do - I admire and respect that, but it's disingenuous to pretend that other people don't have a similar love and pride for their own schools.

I'm glad that Baylor's in the Big 12, personally....

Ya'll are so high ranked on the U.S. News rankings because of yalls huge endowment (which is a natural result when you have 40,000 freakin undergraduates).

Sounds like the initial question has been answered. There are a lot of cogent reasons why someone would want to attend Baylor. At one point my bosses' bosses' bosses' boss was a Baylor grad. Thanks for playing.

You guys are delusional. Texas A&M isn't very well known academically around the country. The most famous school in Texas is the University of Texas. Rice, SMU and Baylor are we'll known academically.

The person that authored this quote has no idea what is really going on. If he's hiring these people it'll be a matter of time before that comes back around.

Unfortunately, I didn't have the privilege of going to A&M right away. I grew up in IL and went to SMU first. I and my two other buddies that also made the switch to A&M can vouch that academically SMU is a joke. The three of us spent 2 years at SMU and 2.5 at A&M. All graduated in different departments and all concede the fact that A&M required about 3 times as much attention to academics over SMU. We studied much harder and got worse grades. I would never consider hiring an SMU alumni, unless you want a snot that knows how to work the system to get what he/she wants without truly putting in the amount of effort required to do the task.

Now, everyone that I have ever met from Baylor was nice and I have had the privilege of working with a few of them too. They all seem good people.

If there school is anywhere on the same academic level as SMU, then I pity them as well. Since I haven't attended Baylor - I'll leave it a rest defending their work ethic that I have personally seen. I don't think there's a private school in the state outside of Rice that works like A&M does.

Here's to whipping the sh$t out of them today on the field!
