FastFred, are you sure about Johnny Jones being from Hamlin, I thought it was Hamilton? Not trying to be a Jackazz, just as a kid I remember rooting against the backfield of Donnie Little, Johnny Ham Jones, Jonny Lam Jones from Lampassas and sometimes Johnny Jam Jones, dont remember what his hometown was.

Not Texas, or high school for that matter, but my wife grew up in West Virginia. There was a school near hers named Polka Middle School. They were the Polka Dots. The real problem there was that their mascot suit was actually a giant red dot. Not great mascot for Polka Middle School (PMS).
