Idiots most of you.

Elko is the winnings 2 season HC in the history of this school. That doesn't make him Saban. But in his first 2 years, he is by far the best coach ever seen at A&M.

Deny it all you want. Zero perspective...all u fans.
had a good game against Notre dame who is a top 20 team. We didn't beat anyone else. I love Elko hope he succeeds, but he hasn't proven anything yet

Devil's advocate, he did great in the SEC. Realist, he failed against tu and Miami. I'm not sure if I'm happy we beat teams we should but failed at the end against teams who mattered.
that's why I think he could be the answer, I mean he beat the teams he should of beat (besides Texas). But when oooking at his resume, what stands out. A win against Notre dame to start the season?

The truth is he's unproven, hasn't proved anything yet. I will say he has changed the culture for better 100 percent

It's possible. I'm not sure if culture was ever really a problem though but instead control/leadership issue with Jimbo. I don't know if Jimbo ever really coached and think he ineffectively ran the program beyond recruiting and media. Just look at how Georgia continues to work yet they have guys pop up with criminal news throughout the year

I agree, but learning from people and my sources, (who was with Elko and Jimbo and I'm not trying to flex my sources just saying)

It's a big difference. I think we can kind of see it how we play too. We're going to try to out work you then talk sh** after, we aren't going to talk sh** then try to out work you later if that makes sense.

Absolutely - anyone remember the pimp cane at UCLA? culture has been an issue for years and I really believe Elko has given us an identity (you can hear it in player interviews)... I'm disappointed, but excited for the future (and you can't be disappointed if you didn't have a reason to have your hopes up in the first place!)

True. Thanks for the new perspective. Gonna be a rough year next year I think but that's why we play the game

Ya'll posting that"Elko needs to go" are trolling or just plain stupid... He's the real deal and I'm glad he was extended.

I do think that no matter how much integrity you have (and I do think Klein does), it is just not possible to be a coordinator or head coach that has signed with a new school to continue to pour everything into the previous school - just not human nature. Sign with the new school, head on over and get started - no hard feelings. Any good team will be poached for coaches...

Great season - super disappointed ending - that's sports (cue the Antetokounmpo presser).. I'm pissed and frustrated as well, but damn - what a great season.

It was a good season. Elko should definitely not be fired, but the extension is more stupidity from Aggie leadership. Extending 6 years at $11 million per year after going 9-0 against a very soft schedule was the same type of Aggie stupidity that led to the Jimbo contract. If Elko had done something special this year, then give him an extension at the end of the year. This year was not special. Good, but not special. Definitely NOT contract extension worthy given the competition we played this year. One win (and an extremely close one) against a good team.

I don't think there was a world where we could wait.

You either extend him and keep him or you don't and you lose him.

Time will tell what the right answer is, but acting like we could both keep him AND not extend his contract is probably asking for a world that wasn't in play.

The Aggies of the past would've gone 8-4 or 7-5 with this same ******* schedule. Elko is 20-6 thru 2 years. Yes, today was absolutely miserable but y'all idiots who are questioning a coach who has done more in his first 2 years than ANY OTHER COACH IN OUR HISTORY, have serious mental issues. We could be undefeated and some of y'all would cherry pick a few bad plays or complain about not winning by 30.

I love Aggie athletics, but dear God many of our fans are insufferable.

Elko is 19-7 in 2 years..... for comparison Jimbo was 17-9 while Sumlin was 20-6. So Elko has NOT done more than anyone in our history but keep trying

Think he's the right coach but really needs a better OC and QB whisperer (and now OL and DL next year as we will regress with all the departing experience). Maybe a new ST coach too.

My only ask is that he just needs to stop lecturing the media and Ag fans about BAS until he wins the real big games in Nov and Dec to close out years (he has missed in his 1st 2 seasons). He's now added to the past BAS with the last 2 years 'endings' in Nov/Dec. 11 wins was an improvement, but it upped the expectations and the team looked tight (esp MR).

I get it...trying to change the culture, but quit telling everyone and prove it on the field and missed that oppty in the tu game (as that loss was the eff up of the year, but signs were there many times this year with run defense misfitting and not setting the edge and MR still learning how to play QB).

Do think we had many injuries today that hurt the in the 4th qtr (esp Moss, Owens, Regis, KC wasn't 100%, etc).

Last year's collapse was rough, especially the Auburn loss. This year, it felt like the issues down the stretch were relegated to very obvious issues with QB play, and to a lesser extent, inability of our scheme to allow our OL to play more downhill and control the game.

I'm hopeful that Wiggins will work hand in hand with Cushing to tailor an offense that will rely more on blocking ability than executing some heavy pulling/delay based run scheme.

I think Elko does really love Marcel, but I fear we could get stuck in the Jalen Milroe hole where our QB is capable of dominating, but also losing games on his own, and that type of inconsistency at the QB position will only hold our progress back as a program. He needs to do some serious scouting/breaking down Reed on film this week and figure out if this is correctable or if he needs to make a move in the portal. At the very least, this spring should be a serious competition between whoever remains between O'Neill/Hart/Reed.

Dude. It's okay to blame players as well. Sometimes, they just don't pull through. Elko didn't throw a pick in th end zone.

With the number of high profile head coaching openings this year, we had to extend Elko. Penn State really wanted him. If you think we should let him go, who you going to get? Extending Elko gives us stability and helped us close a really good recruiting class. Need an upgrade at qb but defense played above their talent level.

Elko held Miami to 10 total points calling the defense while still running HC duties. Y'all dumb if you think this was on him. Glad to see Klein off to other pastures. Elko had us squarely in a place where you win almost any game. Can't manage 10 points is on Klein.

I was completely on board with Elko and company until this game. You just can't get embarrassed like that in a prime time game. I could live with losing to Georgia or Ohio State like that but not Miami. I'm questioning if Elko really is the answer.

This isn't on Elko, it's on Klein and the Offense. So much money and stars and they play so soft. In the SEC you need a true big WR1, and a RB that's big to shed tackles. Until we get that and good play calling this is to be the norm…

Elko hired Klein - Elko let him continue as OC even after knowing his head was elsewhere (this was more than apparent after the sip game). Elko is the head coach - he is responsible for not making a change if it was needed.

Yeah let's just fire him now after the best season we've had in 33 years. Knee jerk much?

How long do you want to ignore this user?
This was Elko's "peak" year. The over/under on his remaining years in Aggieland is probably somewhere between 2-3. Next year will regress with a much more difficult schedule. Manning is looking much better, as of late, and will probably rip the team a new one at Kyle field to finish up a bad year on a low note. He will get one more year after that, and if it's 8-4 at that point, he's shown the door.

That mid-year extension was really effing stupid.

Good lord stop with the doom and gloom crybaby BS. We are sitting well in recruiting and have done well in the portal. We have deeper pockets than the vast majority of schools. It's just dumb to assume we're going to regress to 8-4 because of schedule. They said the same thing this season because of our slated schedule. How'd that turn out?
