Let's see where it ranks at the end of the season…if we are 8-4 again it won't rank that high, but if we are 10-2 and make a run in the playoffs I would say it's high up there
That was my favorite. Unfortunately I was in the end zone third level and couldn't see the back of the end zone. I just saw the ball disappear and the crowd went nuts!Southlake said:
There's many great plays but how many game winners?
McNeil to Porter. Fantastic. Not the game winner but it certainly helped

Was Reeds game winning TD the greatest Aggie play ever?

It was amazing. It's not necessary to rank everything.

Yeah, or Hargett to Bob Long to beat tu in '67. The young folk here need to study history if they're gonna play "best ever."
Or maybe best non-play. E King Gill suiting up for the game against Centre College.

My vote is for the "Texas Special" (1965)
- Context:
In 1965, Texas A&M, under coach Gene Stallings, pulled off a clever trick play against their archrival, the Texas Longhorns.- The Play:
The play involved quarterback Harry Ledbetter tossing a short flare pass to flanker Jim Kauffman. Kauffman let the ball hit the ground and skip, then caught it, appearing to be disgusted with what seemed like an incomplete pass.- The Deception:
The defenders, unaware the pass was a lateral, did not realize the play was still live. Texas coach Darrell Royal had been tipped off by Stallings, who alerted officials to be ready for an inadvertent whistle.- The Result:
Kauffman then sprinted downfield for the longest pass play in Texas A&M history at the time, a 91-yard touchdown.

so so many. maybe the most improbable/high degree of difficulty was the Mond to Davis 35yd TD pass with 0:00 left against LSU.
It wasnt a hail mary or a desperation heave. It was a bullet with an unbelievable degree of difficulty for BOTH the pass and catch (and between multiole defenders including one of the top rated DBs in the country.
And it was AFTER we "already lost".
And it was the last game of the regular season for ALL of college football, and set a record that necessitated the way OTs are handled.
And against a hated rival who had our number since entering the SEC.

I agree with Looch that it is top 3 to end a game... 1) Sirr in 98, 2) Everett INT to secure Bama, 3) 4th and Goal ND win.
Strip sack in the Bonfire Game.

I can't decide between these 2:
"HE GOT A TOUCHDOWN! x 4.
HE GOT IT IN! x 3.
Oh DOCTOR!"
"Snap from Patrick Lewis. 4 man Alabama rush. Got him!"
"No they don't."
"No they didn't! OH MY GRACIOUS!"
"Yep."
"How 'bout THAT?!"

The ball was on the 19.
Still incredible but it wasn't a 35 yard bullet.
See? This is the problem with threads like this. Embellished memories.
