Oh wow

You think he's a great QB, why???????
So you said last 5 years. Your question was very limiting and I am giving you a top draft pick who did not start much in college.

Who do you think is a great Qb in the last 5 years other than maybe Daniels?

I mean Stroud, B Young not really great yet. Basically, your made up question was terrible.

Maybe Sark decided to roll with the guy that led them to the playoffs two years in a row because he knows he'll have Arch for at least two years anyway, and the Mannings were completely content with that. Regardless of what happens in the playoffs or what his draft grade is, Ewers will not be at Texas next year.

Ewers would have to take a pay cut if he went pro.

About the response I expected.

You got an actual response. Tell me a stud QB that waited three years. I'm waiting.

Him not playing tells me all I need to know.

I would add Tannehill.

Tom Brady was behind a legacy in Brian Griese who was also an nfl talent.
Manning is a legacy and very highly recruited. Will he be another Chris Simms?

I'm out of touch and maybe I was distracted from the answer in this thread by the Arch QB comparisons, but why is Ewers leaving sip apparently a done deal?

Manning runs a 4.6 40

Not exactly slow
Dude clearly missed the 75 yd TD where he hit 20 mph. Manning has some wheels.

That's not fast for major college football.

JFF ran circles around the SEC running a 4.6.

I think JT may have intended to say A&M allowed Sewers to run into the end zone.

It's incredibly fast for any QB. This isn't some clown high school coach hand timing and giving everybody .3 seconds off.

It's faster than Johnny (4.68) or Tannehill (4.65).

Educate yourself.

I think that's the assumption from the base too. Kind of a Dillon Gabriel thing as far as the incumbent, except hopefully the NFL rather than a transfer to a team like ND/Oregon.

I'm not even sure DG helped his draft stock, but it certainly embarrassed OU, DG banked, and is still in the mix for a championship. Hopefully Ewers shines.

VY ran a 4.5 and ran like he was 4.2. As a QB, its not how fast you are in a straight line but how quick you are similar to JFF.

IF manning really is a 4.6, its plenty fast. Josh Allen ran a 4.75 at the combine and you can not tell me he is plenty fast.

Plan was for Manning to redshirt, sit 2 years then start for 2 years. Manning will be a 1st round draft pick if not the #1. He has the arm, and measurables. I think his upside is much higher than Ewers but right now they trust Ewers more.

As much as y'all think Manning is the next JFF, there's a reason Sark is rolling with Ewers who clearly has his limits.

Manning isn't what y'all were told he is.

Maybe he will be great. Maybe he will do terrible. Neither you nor I know that. Making over confident statements like that just sets you up to look like a fool.

What are you going to say if he looks excellent next year?

My statement is just contrarian to the d sucking consensus here. Somebody saw he had a 40 time on google and that he walked into our end zone then declared him to have elite speed and anointed him king.

Call me what you want but I'm not convinced. Just like I was never convinced of Ewers eliteness.

Pretty much

If Arch were all that he would have taken the job. He has had multiple chances this year but stayed the back up and now been reduced to a couple of specialized running plays that did not have much luck against Georgia bc they were ready for it after seeing them in our game.

He was clocked at 20.7 MPH on that TD run. Apparently faster than Tyreek Hill's long TD earlier in the season.

I'm not an Arch fan, but that's pretty fast.

If you watched that clip and believed what you're told by Texas then you and I just disagree. Manning may be great, but it won't be his speed. It'll be his size and arm strength. Texas tells you he ran faster than tyreek and you dummies believe it. He's not too fast or shifty for average sec defenses to chase down. But he's big enough and fast enough to make yards when he needs it. Why can't it just be that? Why does he have to be some speedster that can run faster than tyreek? When people say all that, I know they're lying.

Don't think it'll hurt them unless they start winning 7-8 games. You can pretty much convince other position players you'll get a top portal QB that has experience and you'll always be on an offense with someone who's tested at QB

I wish Ewers would stay there and start again and we had some nice ag that would pay Manning 10 million to come here. He'd probably lead us to a 5-0 start and a top 6 ranking and then get hurt in game 6 and we end up 8-4 again.

Hate to quote myself, but best thing possible for Texas fans. It's no fun for OU fans watching DG shine for Oregon, or next season for Georgia fans if CB possibly leads Miami to a championship and Georgia falters.

I guess Ewers' projections are good enough to make the leap over those two when the time came, and the backups at those schools had a time frame they relied on or would bail.

Wish him nothing but the best. The last two seasons have been almost all fun from a Texas perspective.
