Not surprising that his evaluation is not that good because he is not very good.

tu is really good this year due to their defense.

Ewers would be an upgrade to any QB on our roster.
Nice of you to write off Reed so quickly and act like he won't improve.

Reed had a better QBR his first year than Ewers did this year while Ewers played behind a better line and had more weapons.

If one of those three teams wins the Championship, im betting the defenses get alot of the credit.

As far as Ewers, he's just not as consistent as he should be. Some games he looks like the best QB in College Football but others he looks average.
Pretty much agree with you.

But people acting like tu is winning totally because of Ewers is ridiculous. Their defense is incredible and run game very good.

I dont know any Texas fans who think that to be honest with you and I know quite a few. Ewers best asset is his calmness and that's hard to find in a QB. Dude never seems to get rattled even if things are not going well. I think he has a chance to be a good NFL QB if he sits and learns. He can make every throw.

Manning runs a 4.6 40

Not exactly slow
Nevertheless, we let him score, when everyone including every casual fan watching TV knew he was going to run the ball.
This.

And sip may have clocked him running a 4.6 40, but it's the slowest 4.6 there's ever been. He's far from quick:

You might be right. But I just don't see him doing well at the next level.

I actually think Nussmeier is a much better NFL prospect than Ewers.

At his Pro Day workout, Vick ran the 40-yard dash in 4.33 seconds; his time has been clocked as low as 4.25, the fastest-ever for an NFL quarterback.

That's not fast for major college football.
It's incredibly fast for any QB. This isn't some clown high school coach hand timing and giving everybody .3 seconds off.

It's faster than Johnny (4.68) or Tannehill (4.65).

Educate yourself.
To be fair Manziel ran faster unoffical 40 times. So I would take the 4.6 with a grain of salt.

The NFL thinks that too. It's interesting that Nussmeier is coming back. He's already got all the skills necessary.

"Total quarterback rating (abbreviated as total QBR or simply QBR) is a proprietary statistic created by ESPN in 2011 to grade the performance of quarterbacks in American football games. ESPN claims that it created QBR to be a more meaningful alternative to the traditional passer rating statistic by incorporating "all of a quarterback's contributions to winning, including how he impacts the game on passes, rushes, turnovers, and penalties. Since QBR is built from the play level, it accounts for a team's level of success or failure on every play to provide the proper context, then allocates credit to the quarterback and his teammates to produce a clearer measure of quarterback efficiency."[1] However, ESPN has never released the complete formulas and procedures to calculate QBR,[2] resulting in criticism among fans and commentators alike questioning the results.[3]"

I think I called him going to Notre Dame on the other thread started about this a few weeks back. That would be three years in row they went after and started a senior transfer QB. We shall see how this unfolds.

As much as y'all think Manning is the next JFF, there's a reason Sark is rolling with Ewers who clearly has his limits.

Manning isn't what y'all were told he is.

Who knows how Arch will play next year.

But yes, if he were the next coming of JFF or whomever, he would not have been the back-up the last two years.

Yes, I don't think QBR is the be all and end all. I just think people on here give Reed way too much hate.

Reed was arguably one of our best offensive players this year yet people act like he was the sole reason we were losing.

For Reed's first year he was pretty solid and I think he will continue to improve.

There's also a reason Johnny got redshirted. Let's give it time before we start anointing or discarding anybody. Whether it's our guys or theirs.

Nobody said he's going to be the next JFF; only that his reported 40 time is better.

Everybody is gonna find out next year how good (or bad) he'll be. But from the limited time we saw him on the field, I think he has the potential to be pretty damn good.

40 time.

What in the world are you talking about? I have never heard 40 time ever when talking about JFF. The way he played had nothing to do with his 40. LOL

Being illusive and making plays like he did, there's no metric for it.

Does Riley Leonard not have eligibility left? I'm pretty sure he's a Junior. Why would they replace their QB who just led them to the playoff for a QB who didn't meet the hype around him from pre season?

Also on the Arch note, 4.6 is fast but I wouldn't call it elite for a QB. Jalen Milroe has elite speed for a QB.

You'd have to be a moron to think he's quicker than JFF just because sip told you so.

And JFF being redshirted is not comparable when Sherman likely would have never started him and definitely wouldn't have put up with his **** for long even if he did.

Man, if I'm a sip, I'm really playing the long game. I've been posting here longer than Arch has been alive.

Johnny was not an extremely highly rated recruit and was redshirted. I believe he initially signed with Oregon, so it's not like he was lightly recruited, but I don't think the Blue Bloods even made offers.

There was not much hype. That's the point. The first I ever heard of him was getting arrested for fighting a homeless guy and seeing the mug shot with his shirt off and wondering who this clown was.

So yeah, a little bit different intro than Manning.

For the record, Johnny had a 20 yard shuttle time of 4.03s at the combine.

By comparison, in 2024 the fastest time by any player was 4.01.

Johnny ranks 4th all time in fastest 20 yard shuttle by a QB.

I bet Manning is much slower here.
