I agree that I probably am not calling heavy QB run play for the guy we are preparing to start next year in a meaningless bowl game, but the lack of creative usage for him after Moss went down and with the offense obviously needing a spark was disappointing. Reed is slight. If they play Reed's game he is liable to get injured.

You typically don't get massive lanes to run with if you don't have vertical threats to carry defenders downfield.Ags2013 said:
I find it odd that Reed doesn't typically have long explosive runs. He's quick and makes good cuts but I can't recall many long 30+ yarders

Funny enough, this is honestly how 90% of college football has looked this year. Just an incredibly down year for college football talent, as will be noticeable come draft time. Some of that is likely portal related, it is harder to develop cohesive units and develop talent in this atmosphere.
I'm cautiously optimistic that this is ultimately just an adjustment period, but let's be honest, if the expanded playoffs hadn't have kept so many teams in the hunt this late, there would be much more talk about how the quality of college football being played is just down bad.

When you are consistently bad at execution, that's not a good call.
