12 teams is too much for the playoff

Every other sport college and pro has a playoff system to get to the end. College football is the only one that was doing the dumb **** crap about being selected.

So-called Outside conferences should have a chance to get in. That's why we have wildcard games in MLB and NFL that's why we have regionals in college baseball and tournaments in college basketball.

I for one I'm sick of a group of elites that think they get to pick and choose who's the best team. They're so full of themselves and they are always leaning towards the same teams. And I know some people will say well they were the best teams in football. It's not the point. It's not the point in any other sport quit making it so in college football.

And I get it the game with TCU a few years ago was very lopsided, but they had beaten Michigan to get there. If you don't let them play out on the winds alone, then you are picking and choosing who you really want to be there. And I don't like that.

Playoffs and national championships or Super Bowls or World Series are not about necessarily the best team. It's about the team that wins out and that's the way it should be. People need to get over themselves saying oh it's the best team oh, it's a quality win. **** that. Win out and you get there. That's what I was hoping this would be, but they're trying to **** with it again.

If you keep picking teams from the SEC and screw over everyone else, what's the point? The way the media and even ESPN is slobbering over the same freaking four teams. Every year is just gross. And even though I'm not a huge fan of the NIL or the transfer portal at least it's going to get rid of some of these dynasties and level the playing field.

I mean, look at Texas. If they weren't Texas and they were some of the random team, they wouldn't be there based on the rules that they put down themselves on quality wins and strength of schedule. It's just all one big popularity fest.

Now, if Texas winds out, then they deserve to be there, but they and even Alabama are being given. Chances other schools would never get. Alabama has no business being in the CFP this year.

I just wish these committees would just knock it off and give everyone a chance.

if a team with 3 regular season losses makes the playoff...

that really devalues the regular season

also let's see what the 1st round matchups are before declaring the playoffs as awesome

there could a few clunker matchups

Define "clunker".

We've had games with big name teams that were blow outs in the 4 team playoff.

Stop being hung up on the team names as being what's needed to be a "good game"

And even if a team wins by 3 TDs, the "win and advance" aspect is awesome.

imo, 24 teams would work. 8 teams with first round bye. Seeds 9-24 are R1. R1 is basically the play-in round to go up against the top 8 seeds in R2.

The majority of the playoff and title games so far have been blowouts, it's been the exception to have a game that's been worth watching after the first quarter. This year is the first year that really needs a playoff since there isn't the usual 1-2 teams that are way better than everyone else.

Conferences are too big is part of the problem.
Can't even play everyone in the conference.
Would prefer the conferences be two divisions you play the same group every year, instead of this weird rotating schedule. I guess rotating the matchups is good for TV ratings, but in terms of season tournament it makes determine the better teams hard when the schedules are so different for each team.

Maybe bring back East & West SEC Division's?
Treat them as 2 difference conferences.
Each play their own Conference Championship.
Could still rotate teams each season.

No way 12 teams deserve a shot to be national championship.

Garbage Big 12 teams with 2 losses
Non conference champions without a ranked win
Whiny SEC teams with 3 losses... grow up you lost 3 games
Until the year A&M is ranked #12, in that case it's great.

If the number of teams goes up to say 30 teams, we'll finally be able to get into the playoffs.

We would be ranked 31 right behind a 6-6 Notre Dame.

What a stupid thread. This year of all years is proof we need at least a 12 team playoff.

Same people said a 12 team playoff would kill the regular season…. Well we just had one of the best regular season we have ever seen.

BMX Bandit

It definitely didn't kill the regular season, but it did change it a lot

That Ohio State loss to Michigan would have ended their season in the past years.

Instead, they are looking at a home game against the team that probably shouldn't even be in the playoff and then a neutral site game against Boise or ACC champ. Not a bad spot to be in.

24 teams for now and in four years expand it to 32. More is better.

I'd prefer 24, maybe even 32. I like football and have always followed the FCS playoffs and it's so much better than the stupid 4 team playoff system. Yeah, most years someone from the top 4 will win it anyways, but getting more teams involved is better for the game and an occasional Cinderella story would be awesome.

So what, most teams have 50% gimme games on their schedule because they are afraid of losing a game.

It doesn't matter though, college players are paid athletes now so it's not really college football anymore.

Are you really stating teams with two losses means they are not deserving? A conference champ, no less.

This has been the best regular season in a long time.

Just don't like blue bloods still getting favoritism. Ohio State should not get a home game. But that's the whole purpose of the CFP committee.

Ohio state shouldn't be in it

But that the beauty of a playoff. The best team will win it, no matter what happened in a game 4 months ago. It's odd that you'd complain about more games/competition.

Yes, and Boise State, SMU, or ASU against Oregon or Penn State is very competitive

Do you have this same opinion about the number of NFL or MLB playoff teams?

Those are all professional teams with professionals playing the game. Any team in the playoffs could beat the other teams and win it all.

You have got to be kidding me if you think every one of the 12 teams actually have a shot of winning it all. You are going to see games with spreads over 20. What is the point?

Add in the championship games and we have a 6 week postseason. That's half the regular season. Would have to cut all the out of conference games to make it work

I always thought 8. Bring back the BCS poll to be less biased than a committee. Committees are always biased and political.
