I think his chances are minimal. He just isn't a good step forward for a program that's hated by many, for success. Last thing you want to do is become the successful program who is hated for having a dbag coach AND have the possibility of him not working out at the same time.

Because Mike Vrabel is listed as a candidate to replace Nick Saban on some websites, I thought he would be a potential candidate. But if he were to enter the college game, he will have to navigate the inflated egos of today's college kids, recruiting high school kids, NIL, and the transfer portal. An NFL team will hire Mike Vrabel as either a head coach or defensive coordinator.

Lanning is by far the top candidate
Norvell & Kiffin are 2 and 3 in some order
Dabo is the fall back plan

I don't think Sark is a serious candidate. He's had one good year and I don't see Bama handing over the kingdom to a coach who has hit 10 wins once in ten years as a head coach. Him being hired isn't a prop bet in Vegas that I can find (though I'm sure they'd be happy to take your money on it).

I truly believe this portal stuff weighed on Saban too much. It was already hard enough to recruit at that level every year but now they have to deal with recruiting the kids they already recruited. Besides the money they make, I bet it is truly a nightmare for coaches and their families. Also, I don't see any established NFL coach coming to college at this point. Stop with the Dan Campbell, Vrabel and DeMeco Ryans talk. They are NFL guys and want to coach MEN not 18 year old Tik-Tok divas.

They could hire in house from current staff similar to ND which may lesson the blow a little bit, relieve pressure off an incoming coach from another school and allow for another year of evaluation of the coaching landscape.

Steve Sarkisian +900 Would be tough to leave TU at this point where he has them and they are in the SEC.
Mike Norvell +1000 Proven coach who could benefit from the jump to SEC powerhouse and resources.
Glenn Schumann +1500 Up and coming assistant could be the way to go.
Kalen DeBoer +1800 Would be a solid hire. Competent coach who has won or done well at all levels.
