Jeff Fleener is a hell of a coach. He was the brains behind Kyler Murray at Allen HS.

Whether he has enough to overcome Aledo, I don't know. Aledo's secondary is a bit suspect but their front seven are so good, it's hard to get at 'em.

J. O. had trouble getting to the second level last week. Once he got a few seams and a few break outs, they got moving. They need him to have some success to get the WRs some breathing room. Darkside D has to keep stepping up in big moments...

Old staff didn't. Hopefully new one will. Kid is a stud. I watched him score 3 TD's on 2 touches as an 8th grader and then later that same year in basketball season get ejecting for hanging on the rim after a put-back dunk.

Duncanville vs North Crowley....a good ole fashioned Dallas vs Ft Worth grudge match. I see Duncanville pulling out a thriller in the 4th quarter.
There are only about 5 or 6 schools in the state that can stay on the same field as Duncanville. North Crowley is one of them.

I see Southlake beating DeSoto with a last second touchdown or field goal.

Westlake vs Northshore. Austin vs Houston. Westlake has a fantastic team, but Northshore will be favored.
I see Westlake pulling the upset and winning quite comfortably something like 42-28.

Sumner Creek vs Cibolo Steele.

I don't trust Humble ISD schools in big games. For that reason alone I see Steele High School winning this game.

Bellville busts a long one on the 2nd play coming out of halftime. They are up 28-14 and look unstoppable on offense

I jinxed them. After Bellville gets a pick in the endzone, Wimberley finally gets a stop and then goes down and scores. 28-21 Bellville. Both offenses are having their way with the opposing defense.

Very sloppy game by both teams.

35-27 Bellville with 7:22 left in the 4th. Wimberley QB is a beast running the football. Wimberley missed XP. Bellville can effectively put it away with a scoring drive.

Was always going to be tough but it's rare to see a Valley team playing this time of year! Way to represent Brownsville Veterans

Totally forgot to turn on the TV to check out PNG, but it looks like they rolled along just fine without me.

UIL watered down their playoff system years ago. 4 teams in each district get in. some districts only have 4 schools in them. Making the playoffs is not that hard anymore

Based on my experience over the last two years of watching the North Austin/CStat district
2 teams making the playoffs is a bad idea

Some bad teams that make the playoffs

some districts are garbage for example This year the Houston Area District Schools in 5A-1 went 0-4 against the Conroe area schools in bi-District play

some regions are not good south Texas almost never gets to Jerry World Smithson Valley ran over Brownsville last night

But Back to why four teams is a good number

2 years in a row there has been a three way tie in the North Austin / CStat district
Last year 3 way tie for first
Consol beat Georgetown
Georgetown best CSHS
CSHS beat Consol
The teams were seeded
Consol ,CSHS, Gtown on points differential
Gtiwn had to go on the road in the first round ( iirc they won ) but if only two teams make they would have not made the playoff
CSHS went to finals

This year similar situation
CSHS was undefeated but there was a 3 tie for second Consol Gtown & Cedar park ( all teams went 5-2 in district ) again if only two teams make teams would be left out based on point differential
Consol Made it to the round of 8 & lost a close game to the eventual region champ

Having an extra round of playoff games is a good thing
If only 2 teams make the playoffs a 6-1 team or 5-2 teams in District play will occasionally miss the playoffs

Of course I am not sure any of this matters based on the amount talent Aledo has assembled They might win by so much kids who actually grew up in Aledo will get to play
