Decatur's 4 losses were to Anna (still playing), WF Rider (3 rounds), Stephenville (lost last week to Anna), and Alvarado (2 rounds). All non-district and all close games. Glen Rose had a similar run.

As far as playing each other, the brackets are set. Region 1 plays 2 and 3 plays 4 in the semis. It all comes out in the wash. You have to beat the good teams at some point to win state.

Plus WF Rider is a 5a team, the loss to Anna was by 7, loss to Stephenville was by 1 and loss to Alvarado was by 1 in OT. Just like last year, Decatur loaded the non district schedule, took some close Ls, and has been rolling since then. Playoff games so far have been:

45-14 over Dumas
56-14 over Andrews
52-21 over Estacado
38-35 over Brownwood (one of the best finishes to a HS football game I've been to)

28-21 Timpson end of the 3rd. T. Bussey 2 td rushing, 2 td passing. Guy is electric

Been doing this since they first started playing at ATT. I take vacation days to go watch. Started out at $10 tix and $10 park, but nothing is cheap at Jerryworld. Last year, I finally got a suite connection which makes it a lot more comfortable watching all day.

DeSoto vs SouthLake Carroll is intriguing for several reasons.

Wouldn't mind watching that game over most college bowl games.

Jeff Fleener is a hell of a coach. He was the brains behind Kyler Murray at Allen HS.

Whether he has enough to overcome Aledo, I don't know. Aledo's secondary is a bit suspect but their front seven are so good, it's hard to get at 'em.

Good luck getting tickets for PNG. LH won the toss and their coach picked a smaller stadium to limit PNG fans. PNG sold out their side the first day and started buying the LH tickets. LH pulled them offline and they are only selling at the school now.

Liberty Hill was supposed to release their unsold tickets this morning, but that hasn't happened yet. Now some local LH businesses are buying up blocks of 300+ tickets and giving them away for free at the school. They are trying their best to keep PNG fans out. It won't work.

UIL watered down their playoff system years ago. 4 teams in each district get in. some districts only have 4 schools in them. Making the playoffs is not that hard anymore

And to be honest HS football is not what is once was. Look at the number of HS opened up in the last 10-15-20 years. It's astounding
You have kids that are starting on playoff teams that 20 years ago would never of seen the field. It's very watered down now .. talent is spread thin for the most part

In 5A-D2, both Liberty Hill and Emerson finished in 3rd place in their district and are playing to go to State. Maybe some districts are tougher than others….

That's just not accurate.

Sunray's QB Lujan passed for 4000 yds and ran for 1000 yds this season. He is only the 3rd quarterback in Texas to achieve those numbers (Kyler Murray also did it). Lujan is just a junior.

Are these semi games going to be broadcast on Bally's or not until the state championship games? I want to time correctly starting my free Bally's trial lol.

I was at the game sporting my Shiner Comanche purple hat. Got a few comments of appreciation for supporting a fellow district team.

Comments re Refugio are well taken. Last year, I sat with the Timpson fans as they played the Bobcats. I'm neutral on Coach Herring now after he paid my boy some compliments after Shiner's season ending loss to Refugio last fall.

Last comment - and reason for the emoji is the officials' lopsided influence on the field in last nights game. Ganado received a drive killing (14 point swing) call while some rather egregious things were somehow not seen. Changed the game in the 2nd and 3rd quarters. Shameful.

Liberty Hill was 2nd in district. They played Pieper for the district title in the last game of the season and lost, but then beat them last week in the rematch. More than anything, they've gotten healthy at the right time.
