Week 2

Are they picking the best 4 or not?

If Auburn rushes more than two last week on 4th and 31, we aren't even having this conversation. Alabama isn't some giant killer this year.

CFP committee has addressed this and said that they'll be weighting head to heads equally, no matter when they happened.

The prediction should have been how many threads will be started about this.

What I think the committee will do

1. Michigan
2. Washington
3. FSU
4. Texas

Agree.. this is most likely. Ga just lost. tu beat Bama.
Early in the season. No way tu beats bama now.

This is correct. If anyone is trying to convince themselves the committee isn't going to honor the head to head result of Texas-Alabama, remember that right or wrong, they did the same for Cincinnati over Notre Dame.

This could be the first time in the 10-year CFP history that the SEC is left out.

1. 13-0 Big 10 Champion Michigan
2. 13-0 Pac-12 Champion Washington
3. 13-0 ACC Champion Florida State
4. 12-1 Big 12 Champion Texas, who has a 10-point road win over 12-1 SEC Champion Alabama.

Of course, Alabama beat 2-time defending CFP champion Georgia and snapped their 29-game winning streak.

Texas will be the pick leaving out all of the SEC teams and then enter next season with a huge target on their backs …

The Bama team early in the season that tu beat is not the same team they are now. Milroe sucked back then, I think that win is carrying way too much weight. The only other team with a pulse texas played (OU) beat them.

Me too. Otherwise, the head-to-head 10-point road win will mean nothing. That is making me more upset about Georgia's loss. Thanks, Georgia, for missing a field goal and fumbling.

Then they're not picking the best 4, meaning this ****show is pointless, and a big lie

Top 3 spots go to the undefeated conf champs and the 4th spot goes to the head to head winner between sippy and bama.

UGA might be the compromise position between Bama and t.u.

i.e. settle Bama vs. t.u....by taking neither one

Lol why would they put Georgia in over Bama…..? That is absurd.

I don't know why people are surprised or shocked… They've been planting this seed for 2 to 3 weeks with the sips.

Anything else is robbery, imo. Georgia, Alabama, and Texas are all 12-1. Georgia doesn't have a conference championship, and Texas beat Alabama. This isn't just who Vegas would favor; it's about what happened on the field this season.

One of those teams got beat by a two loss team, the others did not.

so this means Alabama's wins over #11 Ole Miss and #13 LSU are meaningless

I know most fans hate this idea but this is where you should let computers determine the playoff teams based some algorithm that includes inputs that includes Vegas odds current and previous.

If my aunt had balls, she'd be my uncle.
If KState doesn't go brain dead, they beat tu.
If refs don't botch call, UH beats tu.

We can play the "if" game all day.

The SEC and Sankey deserve this for letting the conference killers in.

You do realize they don't view this as killing the conference, right? They would view this as another playoff team joining the conference, as tu and OU basically played with SEC credits in a piss poor conference this year.

Your takes are always poor. All due respect.

If it was truly best 4 at this date and time:
Michigan, Alabama, Georgia, Ohio State

If I had to guess:
Michigan, Washington, Texas, Alabama

Why? No one wants to watch Florida state get rolled by Michigan or whoever. If you leave them out is anyone really mad (beside FSU fans)? I bet they lose the bowl game they play in on New Years in that scenario. I like Norvell a lot but that is maybe the 8th best team in the country and I am not even sure about that.

What will happen:

1. Michigan
2. Washington
3. sips
4. FSU

Here's the thing. That isn't considering everything. This year, legit everything should be considered because of this situation. SOS, losses, everything.

Sure, the sips did beat Alabama, but that was much earlier on in the season. The same Bama team that lost to Texas would not have stood a chance against UGA today. But they're not the same team. I also don't think the two time defending national champs, who won their previous 30 games in a row, who only lost by 3 to the 2023 SEC champs should be left out.

Either way, the committee has a **** ton of work to do, and no matter what the result is, they're gonna piss off fanbases.

What I WANT to happen:
1. Michigan
2. Washington
3. FSU
4. Alabama/Georgia

The problem is everybody wants their cake and eat it too - either rankings matter (which implies the whole season) or just the championship game matters.

It's about the resume. Ohio State only lost to the #1 team in the country (remains undefeated) and they barely lost at Michigan (away game). They have wins over #10 Penn, #16 Notre Dame, #16 Iowa. They are the best overall program since 1990 with a top 3 talent roster. Not sure how another team beat's that resume. If Mich is ranked #1, then every team in the country should lose to Mich and you can't get a better loss than OSU.

UGA has a point - off game you can say and won the last two national championships but they are not a conference champion. They beat #9 Missouri, #11 Ole Miss, #21 Tenn with a close lose to Bama. All of their wins are by 7 points with only two games being single possession wins. Best resume in terms of wins.

Bama - beat UGA (1 loss team) and the best win of the one loss teams, Ole Miss (11), LSU(13), Tenn (21) but lost to #7 TU (who has a loss to OU). Bama also had a lot of close games to questionable teams (Arkansas for instance).

TU - Beat #7 Bama, beat #18 OU St, beat #25 Kansas St, lost to #12 OU (2 loss team), . They almost lost to a bad UofH team and TCU team (both are non non bowl eligible). TU has the worst loss out of the bunch and they don't have the best win. The only real win here is the Bama win.

You can't drop an undefeated team thats won 13 games. Otherwise...what is the point of actually playing the games?

I think the Final Four will be all the teams that won this weekend.

Michigan
Florida St
Washington
Alabama

This scenario is very similar to the year 2000.
OU was in the MNC game because of their undefeated record, but there was a big controversy over who should play them.

Florida St was the biggest name and had the toughest schedule, but they had lost to Miami earlier in the season.
The Miami fans all cried foul that Florida St made it to the MNC game instead of them....but everyone ignored the fact that an 11-1 Washington team had beaten Miami.

Essentially you had three schools (FSU, Miami, Washington) that were all 11-1...and whose only loss was to each other.

in 2023 a very similar scenario has taken place Alabama, Georgia and Texas are all 11-1. Georgia's only loss was to Alabama. Alabama's only loss was to Texas.

In this scenario I think you have to go with who played the toughest schedule and who had the worst loss.
I think you have to go with the Alabama Crimson Tide with that 4th spot.
