You guys are right, DWI's are just a minor little offense, everyone gets one, especially college kids.

I don't really think that Long was able to earn a degree from A&M in 3 1/2 years while simultaneously playing football (and apparently going out and drinking). He's not an A&M graduate and thus can't possibly have an Aggie ring. Why do some people keep acting as if he did?

Long's decision to transfer was his choice and it should be respected regardless of whatever the reasons were. His DWI is obviously not A&M's problem to worry about. And if 1 DWI keeps him out of the NFL, then he wasn't that much of an NFL prospect to begin with.

Student's class U4
Official name from SIMS or payroll Long, Dustin Dakota
Student's field of study AGLS
Email XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

To be qualified as a U4 he had to have 95 hours to qualify him for his Aggie Ring.

I have my Aggie Ring and I am still a student without a diploma.

Another thing... yes, he could have easily graduated from A&M. Dustin had a redshirt year.

2000- Redshirt Full year of class including a summer school session prior and 2 summer school sessions after.

2001- Redshirt Fr. Full year of class including the summer after.

2002- Soph. year, another full year of class with a summer afterwards.

2003 JR year, he went to class until December where he graduated.

That's 7 (3.5 years) regular school semesters, and 7 summer school session. Most majors can EASILY graduate with that much time.

He majored in AG Life Sciences which isn't exactly pre-med, computer sci, engr, or bims. It is VERY possible that Dustin recieved his degree from A&M and began another undergrad degree in Sam. Maybe he is finishing up a minor.

i didnt read much of this thread, i dont feel like reading 100+ posts. I read the 1st page and this last one. Ag2003, DWI's are acts of stupidity. He wont get convicted no matter how bad his video footage as long as this is his first time and he hires a good lawyer. I know several people who have gotten one and all agree that the worst part about the DWI is that when you refuse the breathalizer test you get your liscense suspended for a long time (6 months?). I know several very good students with good character who have gotten a DWI. The first time I had a friend get a DWI I found myself questioning the character of this person just like you probably are with Long. But crap, I have been guilty of DWI on multiple occasions and getting caught is the only way it would make the newspapers. I will bet that most NFL GM's, players, and even coaches (our bball coach has a couple of DWI's if you didnt already know) have driven under the influence of alcohol. Lets not rail on a guy for a dwi, it wont affect in any way shape or form his draft status as long as he gets to play at Sam in the fall, which I think he will.

why do people think you have to graduate to get your Aggie ring. You need 95 hours, most majors require about 130 hours to graduate. Just b/c he has an aggie ring does NOT mean he graduated. Who really cares though.

Byron06,
That is a great stance to take that drunk driving is just a little nuisance. Jesus, people freaken get killed every day b/c of jack asses driving drunk. It IS a big deal.

Here's the nut of it all...if Reggie never went to A&M, he'd have EVERY record in the book.

Yeah, including the one for career INT's...

i didnt say it wasnt a big deal. i said its a pretty regular occurance and not at all difficult to get off your record no matter how hard MADD has tried to make it. of course, there arent many offenses that you can have that are tough to get off your record as long as you dont commit them repeatedly. my only point is that this wont affect his draft status at all as long as he gets to play this fall. its not a character flaw. people make mistakes. if this was his 3rd, 4th, or 5th dwi, then thats a problem. 1 dwi does not mean that every weekend this guy is out drinking and driving. the friends i have that got them rarely drive to parties anymore, much less drive home from them. they learned their lesson and the world is a better place because of it. get off your high horse and realize people make mistakes in life and most people dont really think that badly of them for it

Who has the all time lowest interception percentage in the NFL history?

Neil O'Donnell.

Who threw 2 int's in the Super Bowl to lose the game?

In the modern era, who has thrown the most Int's? Fran Tarkenton, and Dan Marino. Both are damn good QB's.

I'll explain why all this talk from you Rudy and others is a little insulting to the program.

First Fran has a proven record of going with a dark horse QB if he thinks he's a better player. He started a bench QB at Alabama, yet you're suggesting Long didnt get a fair shake. You dont know better than the head coach, a man who's proven that he will start the best player.

Long who's got a bit of an ego didnt like it, has visions of the NFL and quit. Its as simple as that.

Its been a while since it happened and I hope people are over it. Doesnt mean we're not allowed to call a spade a spade, the kid took the easy way out, he made a mistake.

Dustin may not even be the best QB at Sam right now, and that is the most ironic part of it all!
