Guess you are too young to remember or know that it was common during the draft in the late 60's and 70's. Lots of guys left TAM to serve. Many did not make it back ...... many times Silver Taps held for them.

"Fake army." That struck a nerve. Nobody claims that the Corps is an army. It is the Corps and it is not fake. Many thousands of us former Corps members served as officers in the military. Others enlisted and served honorably. Texas Aggies had Big presence in WWII, Korea, Viet Nam, Iraq, Afghanistan and other wars. And over 1000 Aggies, including 9 of my classmates, did not come home. The MSC in their memory. And by the way, over 200 Aggies became generals or admirals. The Corps is real; like the Corps or not, it should be respected.
I never said I didn't respect it. I shared what 4 actively serving Marines said at a football game. I think their point was why wear uniforms and present yourself as something you are not. If they were taking time off while in school to serve, that is a different story. What they go on to do AFTER their time in the Corps should be commended and respected.
I come from a family that is largely military. Both grandpas, numerous aunts and uncles, and countless cousins. So I respect the military.
cmsaggie12 You need to just stop…it is obvious you have zero idea what the Corps is or why it is exists. Just stop.
But when they do "get there" they'll be officers and leaders. Everyone has to go through the training and maturation process. Should seniors ridicule freshmen and sophomores just because they're newer and younger? It's asinine.Ag Tag said:
Marines are wrong to ridicule the Corps as fake Army, they should understand them for what they are, student cadets. They aren't "there yet,"
Agreed. And I'm there. It's like a great release.Lance Uppercut said:

The amount of emphasis A&M enables yell leaders to have in the media for our football game needs to change. They are a liability more often than not.
Tired of seeing cringe yell leader **** blasted out on tv and social media week after week after week.
Yell leaders need to continue doing what they do best. Lead yells.
At some point over the last 15 years, it's turned into a look at me fest. Tired of it. Flame awayTexas A&M might be the cringiest university ever pic.twitter.com/YNq30ipz9p

Wanna know how I know you're a dewsh? Because you allow your life to be influenced & affected by what happens on social media. We all know social media is a plague on the world, and yet you still abide by it. A&M isn't for everyone. That's by design. We'll never be loved by everyone, and that's ok. Get off social media and be a man.
I hope nobody listens to you.
I actually agree with a lot of this. I've now been to 9 of the 13 other SEC members' home venues, and outside of Auburn flying the War Eagle, and LSU having a bunch of classless swamp trash yelling at people to suck their d***s, there really isn't anything that distinguishes one from the other. (Hell, Auburn still does 'two bits four bits'…..talk about cringe inducing…….)JBGoode said:
I blame this on going to the SEC. We wanted the spotlight, we got it.
Our old regional foes understood us. Our traditions were known, and to them, that was just Texas A&M.
Now we're a freak show to the greater CFB world. Mostly, they're just jealous they don't have our spirit, and so A&M must be taken down a few notches!! Screw 'em and their damn pom-poms and their faceless, generic cheerleaders, bands, pep rallies, etc.
We're Texas A&M. They're not!

Yeah! Let's be more like Florida State and just keep repeating the same racially insensitive gesture and sound for the whole game!
cmsaggie12 said:"Former corps members" is key here. I guess I'm unaware of current Corps members and current students who are enrolled, pausing their studies and going overseas to serve. Please enlighten me.Whatthefunyo said:strbrst777 said:

Bravo.
I guess all of those former Corps members that went to Afghanistan, Iraq, and Syria over the last few years were fighting fake wars. Because I mean, who would send fake soldiers anyway?

Our flagship campus has the largest enrolment of any public university campus in the nation. We turn thousands of prospective freshmen candidates away every year. A&M doesn't have an image problem.
Most of the bleeding vaginas on this thread can't display an AgTag. That's telling.
If you did graduate from the University and find the need to complain about everything that makes A&M different than the problem is YOU not A&M. Hwy 6 is still there and provides you an easy pathway out of College Station and the environment that triggers you. Utilize it. We will be just fine without you.
You are correct. They all come to Texas A&M because they love jorts and overalls and 1950s Boomer jokes. It has nothing to do with the affordable nature of a very quality education near home. Good analysis.Quote:
