I am a former student (graduated in 2001) and visiting College station with family in couple of weeks. Can you recommend a place for lunch? preferably Tex-Mex food but open to other suggestions. Thnx.

Sit down chain: Lupe's
Local for breakfast taco: Jessie's
Throw caution to the wind (local): Pepe's (Queso Burrito) I would not sit down and eat here or really look around much while ordering or you might lose your nerve
Greasy Burger: Top of the Hill (Texas Bucket List), Koppe Bridge, Mr Hamburger
BBQ: Coopers
Steak (medium price): The Feed Barn or Longhorn (for local)
Cajun(ish): Tad's
Pizza: Double Dave's (pepperoni rolls)
Fuegos is amazing. Happy hour at Sonics can get you a cheap soda. Whataburgers is a classic if you need something close by. If you need groceries, you can go to Targets or HEBs. Some fun on Northgate can be found at Shiners or across town at the Taps. Someone else mentioned Koppes Bridges, it's really good too. Make sure to check out Kyles Fields while in town.crackeryack said:
Fuegos
I'm guessing from your winky face that it doesn't exist anymore? Or just a humorous suggestion for an out of town visit?Cow Pie & Fries said:

Just triple the jalapeños…TyperWoods said:
Pepe's is correct, except Chili Burrito, not Queso Burrito.
It has all the attributes of a great Mexican food place, a little dangerous and highly questionable on sanitary conditions.

Blasphemy. Nobody has pepperoni rolls like double daves

In San Antonio at least , dd's has taken a nose dive. Hollow breadstick with a faint trace of cheese and a couple of pepperonis

Gumby's! Does anyone know/remember the name of the "off the menu" spicy pizza?
Casa Rodriquez on Bryan St, is the best, the rest are dog food!Rasslin Cheesehead said:
The answer depends on what type of Tex-Med you're referring to. We have all the national chain types: Chuys, Lupe Tottilla… Texas brands:Masfajitas, Fuegos, Torchy's, Coco Locos and then the Local brands: Polly'sCocina, La Carretta, Casa Rod, Jessie's and La Familia. If you go for drive thru tacos Garpez in the Shell close to the mall. Needless to say, we Aggies love our Tex-Med
