Obiviously, lsu. We want them to basically win the mnc so they don't steal Jimbo. </texags>

Why do you want to see our main rival win against a school that we don't care about anymore./s

If "/s" means not serious, forgive my ignorance. Assuming serious,

1. The SEC brand is our future and a significant part of our athletic value is tied to it's strength
2. sips are a bigger recruiting competitor than lsu

In case "2" is not obvious, we share a state with the sips and both of our campuses are 3 hours from DFW. BR is significantly further than everywhere but the Beaumont area. The only reason LSU has been able to poach TX kids is our underachievement. Most kids in TX will choose A&M or tu.

The heights of delusion by sips and the legion T-shirt's they command is rather impressive...bless their hearts!

Winning that Sugar Bowl has done wonders for Texas. Is it their springboard to getting back to winning ten games per year? Probably so.

They are lost 8 or 9 starters on D and have major depth issues in the front 7. I would be shocked if the sniff 10 wins this year.

They do play in the BDF. Automatic 5-6 wins before season begins.

I want LSU to beat them and beat them badly, but do not take t.u. lightly in this situation; they have a couple of factors that benefit them a lot in this game.

- First off, the sips are playing at home. This will help their defense, and although we've heard reports about LSU's "new" offense being like the 2nd coming of Drew Brees & co., I am very hesitant to see much change under Coach O on that side of the ball. I expect to mostly see more of the same ground and pound style. This is easier to defend when you have the athletes to do so, and t.u. has good athletes to play against that style for one game out of the year - see how they did so to UGA in the bowl game when they had all that time off between (and I know UGA wanting no part of that game for being rejected by the playoff committee played a part in that too).

- Secondly, one thing Herman does well is prepare effectively when he's got a lot of time to prepare (season openers / early season games, bowl games). Let's be real - if a team has a cupcake for game 1, and a big time opponent for game 2, the coaches are spending a good portion of fall camp and game prep on opponent #2. This reason alone leads me to believe this game will be much closer than most anticipate. A lot of people are mistakenly picking LSU to just blow out t.u. because SEC! That is ignoring the circumstances of this game and the matchup. I can very easily see LSU losing this game, and the whole national media jumping on the sip bandwagon right off the gate about how they're "back"....again.

For most teams yes but look at how they have performed against those teams recently.

if the LSU coaching staff is smart, they'll target tu's weakness - LB corps. i predict joe burrow is going to run for more yardage than sam ehlinger will.

If Burrow plays like he did against us in that final game, LSU will be very difficult to beat.

Andrew Beck got one of the highest signing bonuses ever.

For an undrafted free agent. 115 G's, y'all.

East answer is LSU if texas wins you will have no way to shut them up and have sips banging their chest regardless of how the rest of the year goes. LSU would still have the SEC gauntlet plus a matchup with us. So we could shut them up ourselves on the field.

Can't believe it's not posted here.

Brecklyn Signed with GQ. He's a man model now. Making hundreds of dollars a week.

To be fair, Burrow did most of his damage through the air in the OTs and not as much in regulation, plus our corners played like garbage all of last year. Burrow is average. As long as the sips can get some semblance of pass rush on him, their chances of winning go way up.

Not a popular sentiment on TexAgs, but for me it's easy. I've always been a t- shirt fan of LSU, so it's a no brainer.

LSU is our real rival.

Hardly anyone even remembers the Longhorns.

I don't know why anyone would care if they win or lose.

But, LSU is our real rival, and we hate them with the white-hot intensity reserved for real rivals, and would never root for them against anyone.

(Did I say all of that correctly?...)

I hate this mentality.

A&M and whomever benefits A&M the most. In this case, the swamp tiggers winning benefits us the most as we will play them head to head, and we recruit head to head against both of them in some fashion.

Whatever benefits A&M the most is what you should focus on.

I find no sincerity in this approach. I can reason with myself all I want about which outcome benefits A&M the most. But once the game gets going all that is thrown out the window.
