I bet Leunes couldn't figure out why his tenure wouldn't get him into the Bright gym and now he is bitter.

I had this guy 14 years ago for an Abnormal Psychology class. The two biggest things he ever talked about then were how he thought it was BS that he couldn't prescribe medication as a psychologist but a pscychiatrist could. He'd say he didn't need to go to medical school to know what to prescribe his "patients" and that he would just call his psychiatrist friends and have them write the scrip.

The other thing was his crepe myrtles. Seriously, he was obsessed with them and would waste whole lectures talking about them. Dude was over the hill then. He's gotta be completely off the rails now.

I mean, we went from the 3rd most arrests to a guy who had the 10th most. Thats improvement right?

If he thinks the Dodson incident was an "assault", what must he have thought about being a Fish in the Corps? I am Class of '67 and I was treated pretty rough my Fish year! It could not have been any easier in 1956.

I urge current students to boycott the mfer. Unless he teaches the only section of a class you must take, simply do not sign up for his class.

Let's see what the university does with him after a couple of semesters of his classes not making!

When I saw the topic and saw that he was a professor of psychology I knew exactly who it was going to be.

Not everyone (who played for him, especially) share that opinion. But he was very young (29) when he began his stint here, and he (or his coaches) made a lot of mistakes handling his players. Just know that. He admitted as much, years later, and I'm sure he's at peace with all that.

He did treat some of his players poorly, or allowed them to be treated poorly by his assistants, most of whom were his former teammates here. I believe he has admitted as much. Players talk, so he very likely had good sources. College football is BIG business, and dead wood gets cast aside and moved out routinely. That requires a certain degree of ruthlessness, and players who don't "turn out" undergo a lot of pressure to surrender their schollies to make room for someone else. Coaches are under intense pressure to win, so it's pervasive across the spectrum, and not unique to any one coach, of course. But they vary, no doubt.

LoL. I remember his comments about Stallings. My recollection is that he thought Stallings tore his players down and produced losing teams as a result. It wasn't exclusively an attack on the man as a person, but a critique of coaching methods that didn't work.

However, I thought he had a higher opinion of Bellard, so I'm not sure what the sentence mentioning him meant.

But yeah, knew who it was going to be when I saw the subject.

I could be outing myself but many many years ago (I had a real job with nothing to do with the University) and was involved in CS Little League.

Finding coaches was fairly difficult, especially for the minor and pee wee leagues. I would call the parents of those kids on those teams begging for coaches. I remember calling one prominent A&M prof.

His wife answered and I began my plea attempting to find a coach. Remember this was low level coaching, primarily maintaining control in the dugout and keep the right fielder from picking flowers.

Her response was "oh no. He couldn't coach a team. He is a professor!". ,,,as if he was too good to hang out with kids.....including his own.

To this day I kick myself for not saying..."great, if he is a professor, he will have time to coach two teams". It has been nearly 40 years and I still hate myself for not saying that.

Of course they are always the one's to complain that their child is not getting enough playing time.

I love how everyone is calling this an "assault"...let's take a look at the definition:

"An assault is carried out by a threat of bodily harm coupled with an apparent, present ability to cause the harm."

The only person who can say they were "threatened" was the player or the alleged assistant coaches. No one else can call this an assault except the person(s) that were the "victims". GO AWAY LIBTARD PROFS!
