Been a while since I've been in town. Wondering if there are any new go to spots for Tex mex? Thanks in advance!

Wednesday night is $2 Ninfaritas, if I remember correctly. Definitely take an Uber.

Coco Loco on welsh is the best TexMex.

If you are looking for authentic, Raspas el Payasito on off Coulter is more original.

From Northern Minnesota: Preach!

Only Messkin food here requires a stroke-inducing amount of salt to extract the tiniest bit of flavor.

Dang. Now I'm Jonesing. Thanks for that.

Is Mi Cocina still around? That place has to be worse than what y'all can get in Kansas or Minnesota.

Ha! I used to love mi cocina and (I believe) their 25 cent beers. Their was also a place in Bryan just across from longhorns and set up on a hill that was good. Can't remember name though.

You're literally what's wrong with everything. That attitude is worse than the sorority girls screeching for "street tacos" at Fuego.

If you want street tacos at an authentic taqueria, El Sol de Mexico on Texas and MLK is the lick! Best prices also

Best Mexican food restaurants are all in Bryan:

Jessie's Taqueria is amazing breakfast tacos and lunch, counter order and very friendly. Two locations E. 29th Street near Briarcrest in the strip center next to Walgreens and another on Villa Maria across from the HEB near Texas Avenue.

Someone mentioned Raspas al Payasito which is amazing Mexican family food. It's a totally simple dive if all you care about is amazing tacos and don't care about atmosphere, this is your place. Heading north on Texas, turn right on Coulter at the House of Tires / Michoacna and it's one block on the right. They also have a food truck if you know where to find it throughout town.

Another amazing "street taco" place that is all about the tacos not atmosphere (unless you like the barbed wire fense and outside-only seating) is Tio which is open from 11am - 2am on N. Bryan street one block north of the Icehouse in downtown. Slow to get food but oh man it's great late night food.

A simple but nice street taco restaurant in downtown Bryan is Taco Crave for those who know the old Zarape / Jose Montemayor family, this is run by a nephew, David Posada and they have great tacos. Corn tortillas are not homemade but otherwise outstanding.

For sit down / service Mexican places, I really like Cilantro and Papa Perez in downtown. Cilantro is a Monterrey family and their Chile Relleno is awesome. Papa Perez is also good food and service in a nicer sett g next to the La Salle with a full bar.

Mi Pueblito (Left at the same Coulter/Texas intersection of House of Tires and Michoacana) and Coco Loco on Texas just north of the Fargos BBQ are also favorite sit-down places where the settings are humble but the food is solid.

Jose's is also very solid Mexican food, another Monterrey family. Plain atmosphere but good food and their Margaritas are very good.

Someone earlier was disputing the quality of Casa Rodriguez. They went through a rough spell for a time but they have made a lot of changes in staff and are on a comeback. I must say my daughter likes the Quesadillas there.

I also like Fuego and Mad Taco in College Station.

My favorite is La Casita in Navasota.
My B/CS favorite is Papa Perez in downtown Bryan.
My go to is Yole's in Wellborn.

While the Taco Bell on university has the better queso, the Taco Bell in Bryan by the high school has crispier taco shells

The best and most popular places are Fuego and Torchy's Tacos. They are not really tex mex per say, but exotic tacos. Both have really good queso.

I don't like any of the tex mex that well in the area. Truthfully Chuy's during green chili fest. On the Border for fajitas are the best bets.

I would say Casa Rodriguez, Papa Perez or Lupe Tortilla next tier down are okay.

Polly's Mi Cocina? Next to the gas station on Holleman? If so that place is incredible underrated.

Before it was Polly's Mi Cocina it was just Mi Cocina and had several locations in BCS. I think they got in trouble with the Mi Cocina franchise and had to change their name. The original location in Bryan was amazing and BYOB!
