If he is such a standup morally superior individual that was so disturbed by what he was seeing and experiencing why did he immediately not go to OUR compliance folks? But instead transfers to go play for the coach we fired who also employs his dads buddy who we also fired and goes to a newspaper to share his juicy story a week before Jimbo's first game? Cough*bullsh..*cough....give me a damn break. The fact alone that he has that BS scripted text to his dad from 2 months ago saved tells you all you need to know about his intent. Also, if his injury was so serious that he was upset he was having to run on it why is he able to play suddenly for Summy if he can get a waiver? All we have here is a grade A pansy, upset he had to work, who ran to the arms of our scorned ex. It's time to release the damn hounds on sumlins sorry drunk rear end...F that guy. If we have the dirt to ruin him, let it fly.

This isn't news. Read the story yesterday and this is what I took away... a boy who will say whatever and do whatever so he doesn't lose a year of eligibility.

It's a self-interested party playing out his side of the story. Nothing of note will happen here. Disappointed he's acting like this.

Of course the team was ****ing soft. Give me a ****ing break, players. Sounds like the ones who were still bought into Sumlin's philosophy can't handle change. Bunch of entitled babies.

Damn Sumlin pisses me off. I don't like jumping to conclusions, but there is no way he didn't play a part in this.

I wonder if anyone has told little Miss Marchiol how this could affect her NFL prospects later. Or, even if she ends up playing pro ball that her much more manly peers might not take too kindly to her behavior.

I guess my response is what the heck do you think happens when a recruit hits town? They typically assign a current team member that plays a similar position to host the player or multiple players... do you think that player or the visitors has the cash to party at the end of the campus activity. This has been going on forever at every school! In my case 40 years ago, it was $40 instead of $300..
Oh and by the way, if you haven't been called a P word by a coach, you've never played football!

This portion of the article says it all:

"Marchiol said he believes he was pushed to play through the injury because of a belief coaches frequently shared loudly with the players: The Aggies program had been like a country club under Sumlin. In fact, he said, everything in the message of Fisher and his assistants had been themed to demand more toughness, from the duration of workouts to the language coaches used on the field to players being told outright that highly rated recruits were coming to replace them.

"They called us soft all the time," Marchiol said. "They kept telling us, 'This is gonna get worse, you haven't seen *****'

Ken Marchiol, who played briefly in the NFL before moving into the financial services sector, said he also witnessed language that he felt crossed the line.

"He called them a bunch of p------, said they weren't worth a f---," Ken Marchiol said. "It wasn't teaching, just attacking."

After persevering through what he felt like was unfair treatment, Santino Marchiol had reached his limit. The week after he was forced to practice on an injured ankle, he packed up and moved out of College Station."

Country club doors got shut. Players got called out for being soft. Marchiol got triggered by the truth and ran away to a safe space.

On the ankle thing, the article acts as if its an estsblished fact but there is a picture that disproves it. This is a major problem with journalism today - feelings and opinions arent facts until they are corroborated.

Listening to the First Team on Sirius, and they're taking it with a grain of salt given him going to Arizona to play for Sumlin. They seem to see it for what it is, a kid with an axe to grind with Jimbo and who wants to go play for his former coach and not lose a year. McElroy called him a "rat," and essentially called him a whiny ***** with how he described it. They also said this is nothing like Ohio State or Maryland.

I wonder if that's going to be the theme on this nationally.

...

He practiced the rest of the week and said his lower leg continued to swell and showed significant bruising.

Hmmmm... I'm not seeing signs of significant bruising and swelling on this Sunday after a week of practice.

So has this **** deleted this photo yet? It is seriously time for all the info on Sumlin's drunk ass to find it's way to national media outlets

Everything he said is probably true. It also probably happens at every major school in the country. Tough luck that he decided to be a dewsh and air it out, but I can't imagine anything major coming from this.

I don't think anything will come of it. If the NCAA doesn't grant his wavier, then you can rest assured nothing will come of it.

Leave Sumlin out of this...he's in the past, just like Santino is.

What bothers me is names and dates were provided. Also he kept the balance of the cash but no receipts? And Peveto gave him the cash? How can he account for the money himself? Some of this is fishy. I'm guessing fake news...

I understand wanting to paint Sumlin as the villain here, but I just don't think he's all that involved. Sounds more like the dad.

The reason I don't think it has a lot to do with Sumlin is 1) he could potentially lose a player because of NCAA violations and 2) coaches hate being labeled as soft. This certainly makes it look like he runs a soft program.

It is a shame to have a cloud over the program. Even a bigger shame if true. This is a good reminder that a $75m check doesn't mean you are above the law. Win, but win cleanly.
Unfortunately there is no such thing as winning cleanly in college football. The small stuff like this happens everywhere. But for $75m, I damn sure don't expect to get caught 6 months into it before we've even played a game.

Well yeah, the article is "cleverly" written to say that Marchiol did not contact the NCAA but sent the allegations to Arizona State. ASU obviously gave the letter to NCAA. What did Marchiol think was going to happen?

To say that this unexpectedly sparked an investigation is hogwash.

The article also says he is not a "whiner".... BS

So...Marchiol is ineligible to play now right? He essentially turned himself in to the Arizona compliance office. Arizona can't really play him with that hanging over him anyway. They are gonna have to get both the transfer waiver, and also turn him in for infractions to get a ruling there too to get him cleared for that too, right?
