That ship sailed a while ago. He's not leaving Fort Worth any time soon. Yes the facilities are a B. (And I've been in there more than a few times for the LT camps with my son.) But he can recruit there. He doesn't have an overwhelming press presence at all times. A fairly laid back fan base and a great contract with basically complete autonomy. Look at what happened with all the drug scandals. Jack and his cousin ****. So why leave?

My understanding is that Leach will not work in the state of Texas again until sovereign immunity laws relating inability to sue the state government are changed. I don't really understand it, but he sure tweets about it a lot. I'd love to have the pirate as a coach though.

Texas A&M has done so ONCE in the past 18 years, with far more resources and advantages than The Pirate has enjoyed.

Face it, Mike Leach will never coach at Texas A&M, where the GOB factor and befuddledness is 100x anything he faced in Lubbock, but at least post with an ounce of objectivity.

Hate to disappoint, but "the Pirate" hates everything about College Station nearly as bad as he now does Lubbock! And he's said as much to interviewers!

With Mond we basically just were in a wildcat, a few days ago, in that stupid "hurry up" scrimmage.

TAMU doesn't deserve Leach. We enjoy hiring alumni or coaches with no idea/system that could change the dynamics of mediocrity any time soon. We probably will find some old Ag this time or one of Slocum's cousins etc.

Funny thing is, he would be a great hire for Ole Miss. He's proven again and again that he can build a top ten offense out of a cardboard cutout, 3 chia pets, and some water, and recruiting Mississippi would give him some legitimate DL talent for a change.

You wouldn't challenge Alabama with Leach at the helm, but he'd go 7-5 to 9-3 most years with the occasional 10-2 season thrown in (and all this with no NCAA violations!).

His style of play doesn't match up with the teams we play. Plus I don't want to hear yall ***** and moan the second we lose. Texags will be all over him for his quirkiness and use that as an excuse to fire him.

I mean we all do, but Petersen loves the Pacific NW and is making bank (4.9MM/year), and Swinney is making hella-bank (6.75MM/year) and competing for national championships. Unless we threw down a 10MM offer, I don't think either would do more than take the phone call out of professional courtesy.

Gundy... He's at least a possibility, as he has a well-documented and long-running feud with Boone Pickens, who writes all the checks. That said, he just got a fat raise this past January (I think he's making 4.5ish/year now?), and, with Stoops and Briles gone, is set to dominate the Big 12 and destroy the OSU record book over the next 5-10 years; he'll probably win 5 conference championships over that time frame. Put another way, our chances at landing him were MUCH better last December than they will be this December.
