RC is the man. He would have been successful had they competed facility-wise.
But wait, don't we dislike Sumlin's offenses?Quote:
By the way, after lots of assistant difficulties, especially on offense, RC's last offensive coordinator was ...... (drum roll please) ... Kevin Sumlin.

While Groff was a tightwad when it came to facilities, it wasn't facilities that did RC in. Let's not revise history. It was RC's inability to win big games on a consistent basis - pretty much his Achilles heel his entire head coaching career.coloradoag69 said:
The man who undid RC the most was Wally Groff, his AD.
With proper support there never would have been Dennis Francione.

If only RC and Sumlin would have been given a chance with Reggie McNeill.

Amen. I got the last third of RC's tenure but the atrocious offense was a hallmark. Yes, RC was a great defensive coach. Yes, part of the offensive philosophy was to be conservative to not put the defense in tough positions. (Run the clock so the defense stays fresh. Interesting idea.) But the problem was we were not flexible to be able to win the game in a variety of ways. This was especially true when we were playing with a talent deficit against the bigger programs. The bowl record is a great indication of this. I don't think you could have expected much difference had he stayed.Quote:
Unless you were there, you can't understand how painful our offense was to watch during his tenure and how we mysteriously played down to our competition's level.
