quote:yeah there is. We do not need it.
Florida plays Florida State
Georgia plays Georgia Tech
South Carolina plays Clemson
Florida plays Miami (I think this is getting started again)
Kentucky plays Louisville
BYU plays Utah
New Mexico plays New Mexico State
All of these teams play "rivals" from other conferences and it doesn't seem to hurt them. No reason this game shouldn't be played again.
quote:So, is t.u. (and other BIG 10-2 schools) pathetic or are they a "difficult" game? We seem to want to schedule at least one marquee out of conference game, why not make it t.u. instead of some PAC 12 school? For a school that loves tradition, we sure seem happy to kill one of the oldest games in college football.
But, putting those issues aside, this seems like a bad deal for A&M for two primary reasons:
1. Texas needs this game way more than we do because the Big XII is pathetic and this gives them a huge game
2. The goal is conference and national championships (this must always remain goal). A&M already has a difficult enough schedule. Playing this game does not help our goal.

Yeah just like I am going to bang Jennifer Aniston
quote:
what does "not needing to play them" even mean. That has nothing to do with it. The fact is the two biggest schools and most storied programs in the state of Texas should be playing one another every year regardless of the sport or conference. Politics, money, "need to", "want to", shouldn't and don't matter. It's the right thing to do and it needs to be done. Sports are entertainment and any time these two schools play it's entertaining.

quote:Great...now we are just scared.
we've played them about 100 times.....
and in about 70 of those.....it didn't work out so well.
quote:
it's ironic that so many on here believe the game shouldn't be played yet every other day there is a different topic about texas. If we don't need them and the game shouldn't be played then why all constant talk about them. if they don't matter then why the obsession? The fact is they do matter and will always matter because the schools are 90 miles apart, the two flagship universities in the state of Texas, and fans live and work by each other on a daily basis.
quote:I believe that Sharp does not want to play t.u. in anything. When we were leaving the Big 12 our AD had tried for months to get t.u. to change their minds and continue our series. Dr. Loftin also got involved with direct contact & letting everybody know that we'd play them "Anytime, anywhere." But nothing worked.
I wonder if our sharp leader wants to play them, I think ya'll know the answer.
it's happening.
quote:I take issue with both of those points.
