Weird question:

Are there any restaurants around Aggieland that have been there since the 70's or even longer?
(other than McDonalds or stuff like that)

There used to be a house in Bryan. They served family style dining. My buddies and I called the place "Mom's". That is all I ever heard the place called. We would have to wait in line (sometimes outside when the line was long) for space at a table to open up. You sat where ever there was room at a table even if you did not know the other people at your table. I always wondered if that place was still serving. It was open in my time from '79-'83. Damn good food!
Aggie Band not the easiest but the Best.

Chicken Oil was a Sunday staple in the late 70's. Double meat, double cheese deathburger was great for a hangover, washed down with a 24 Oz Fosters. Then some pool.

I remember whoever the cashier was at Mom's just had a cardboard shoe box with cash in it.

The Grapevine was opened in the 70s, was closed 2001-ish, and then reopened a few years back.

Fort Shiloh

Fort Shiloh closed in June of '95. I remember because I was hired there 3 months before. Best fajitas I've ever had. But they were in the red 9 months of the year until football season. I don't think it helped that it was right next to the cemetery.

steamin' greasy plate of enchiladas with lots of cheese and onions and a guacamole salad. I hear that you can get them at the LaSalle Hotel in old downtown with ice tea and a waitress who will smile every time

Ate at Mom's plenty of times during the summer of 1960. She had a fruit jar in the front of the house for us to pay her, on the honor system, around $.50 (not sure of exact amount) for the meal. Gained a ton that summer. Unbelievable food.
