What OC would want to come work for a coach that probably only has one year left before he gets the boot? If spurrier was even interested, he would be ok with a one year job

Can we blow up the "quit" narrative?

He had enough of being a head coach, and resigned midseason because it was best for the continuity of the team. Let them test out the other guy and minimized the impact on recruiting.

I agree.. He was giving his good friend and long time assistant half the season to audition for the permanent HC job. I'm betting he would have gotten the gig if they'd beaten us.

I personally don't want Spurrier. How old is he...70 or 71 years old? In a couple years we would have to do this all over again! Isnt this what we don't want to have to do? Don't we want to get out of this "4 nee OCs in 5 years" rut?

So in a couple of years Spurrier retires... or a young OC gets hired away as a HC somewhere else. We are not keeping a proven OC for long. Might as well get a guy with more experience than anyone else still in the game.

I too think this has become something people say without actually looking at the evidence.

Bottom line, Sumlin has a football team with a really bad offense. Until I see that change, I can't say he's an offensive genius.

Maybe he will prove us all wrong and just start calling plays and running the offense. Maybe that's why he won't fire Spav???
