I cannot forecast to you the predictions of Rojo. It is a riddle wrapped in a mystery inside an enigma; but perhaps there is the key.

I was googling Steve Spurrier Texas A&M and came across this article from mid-October 2015 discussing possible replacements for Spurrier at SC. There's a gem of an assessment of Spavital in there. What are some people smoking?

http://www.saturdaydownsouth.com/south-carolina-football/steve-spurrier-replacement-options-gamecocks-go/

quote:
Jake Spavital, OC, Texas A&M One of the nation's youngest coordinators (30), Spavital's helped establish Texas A&M's Air Raid offense as the SEC's most potent during his tenure. He's learned route concepts and his tempo-driven offense from the likes of Dana Holgorsen (West Virginia), Gus Malzahn (Tulsa) and Kevin Sumlin. Most importantly, Spavital could also help the Gamecocks battle back in the East recruiting war against the likes of Georgia, Florida and Tennessee. Spavital has signed five-star quarterbacks in consecutive classes (Kyle Allen and Kyler Murray) and has a commitment from another for 2016.

This hire is make or break for Sumlin. He'll either be a genius or an idiot. I'm not sure which, but I am still thinking Spurrier might be on board with a short term challenge with us.

Other posters and media said Foster was a candidate before him. He was the first to post that we were for sure getting Foster. Turns out, Foster did have lots of conversations with him, but never discussed a contract.

As early as December 21, the Advocate reported Chavis was being pursued by A&M. On the night of the 29th, Rojo first said it was Chavis for sure. He was first here to say that. Multiple sources reported it the next day

So he's 1 for 2. Not quite the soothsayer the zoo claims.

Now, if he's right about this, he wins all time greatest Texags scoop.

Re-read MY incorrectly quoted post on this thread. I was misquoted. Clarifying here.

Point is, knowledgeable people posted here before "Rojo" that Chavis was coming (before "it came out".).
Definitely.

Whatever, the Rojo stuff is now boring to me. As I've said, those who want to have fun with it, carry on.
I'm sure Spurrier was just delayed a day or so....

Here is the timeline for the DC search:

Dec 19, 2014: AggieRojo states,
quote:
Quote:"Bud Foster. That's all folks. No need for throwing more names out there."

Dec 21, 2014: A single report surfaces that A&M had reached out to Chavis. Nothing more comes of this other than speculation on this single report.

Dec 27, 2014: AggieRojo states,
quote:
Quote:"I've been all in on Foster since I heard from my low friends at VT and confirmed it with a low friend at A&M. It's been about 4-5 weeks now. I have no motive or bias here. Just playing the cards I have seen."

Dec 29, 2014: AggieRojo states,
quote:
Quote:"The envelope please....Texas A&M's new Defensive Coordinator is.....
.....John Chavis according to my low friend here in College Station. That Sumlin -- he did the Curley Shuffle to my sources. The paperwork is in. Signed."

Dec 30, 2014: Serious pursuit of Chavis by A&M surfaces the next day.

Dec 31, 2014: This is followed on New Year's Eve by reports that it is a done deal.

Mar 18, 2015: Bud Foster admits that he was very close to going to A&M and that even his wife was in.

Rojo regurgitates information that is posted elsewhere. His post regarding Foster was 10 days after a user by the name of Yung Fits posted on a Hokie site:

12/9/2014
quote:
Texas A&M, Auburn, and South Carolina have been in a bidding war with each other over the services of former Florida HC, Will Muschamp. The Aggies seemed to have thrown everything but the kitchen sink at Muschamp, but to no avail. My sources have told me that A&M put Muschamp on a deadline and that deadline has passed. Which means they will move on to their #2...which brings us to Bud Foster.

Foster has been in talks with Texas A&M's AD and HC, Kevin Sumlin for sometime now; and in fact, I have it on good authority that Foster was the one who reached out to Sumlin first, and not the other way around. I can't 100% confirm the accuracy of this statement, but I feel as good about it as any preemptive information I've ever obtained, and that is:

It would appear, based on my sources, that Texas A&M and Bud Foster have reached a deal in principle.

Feel free to take this as you will, but I'm not trying to pump smoke or troll the board. Just thought I'd give the heads up for discussion.
He then proclaimed "the greatest recruiting class in A&M's history" after which he admitted to simply trying to pump the boards with positivity.

Bottom line: He throws **** on walls and takes credit for what sticks (chavis). That's it. It's all in good fun but I feel bad for some people that take his schtick seriously.

IN. (At this point why not...) As an Aggie football fan, I'm so tired of the annual crotch kicking, I don't even care if OBC wins or not. That guy wins press conferences like no other. I'd much rather listen to him explain why Alabama curbstomped us instead of Spav rambling on about "executing, needing to get better in all phases,..."

I don't see how this disproves that Rojo was the first one to call Chavis a done deal. People on here keep saying there were others that said it first, but I've seen no quotes. There IS a quote of Rojo calling it a done deal though, and it was in fact days before it was officially announced. So, as far as I can tell, the people that say others said it first without proof are no different than just about anything MFBarnes ever posted on this site. Prove it, or quit *****ing about Rojo and STFU.

To me, the fact that he got Foster wrong actually bolsters his case. Shows he really did have inside info, just things didn't play out. He certainly wasn't just making it up to troll...

"Waaaahhhhhhhhhhh! Zoo birds pooping Spurrier threads all over my board! Waaaaaaahhhhhhhh!"

^^what you all sound like freaking out about people who don't dismiss Rojo's Spurrier rumor out of hand. We won't know who the OC is until Sumlin (or maybe Billy, but probably Sumlin) tells us. The pro-Spurrier crowd is selling some sunshine-pumping optimistic speculation, to be sure. But you anti-Spurrier guys sure are crotchety. At this point I just want Spurrier to be hired so we can make a never-ending spreadsheet with your BAS on display.

On that note, one of you youngs needs to get a move on making this spreadsheet.

You seem offended by what I wrote. I'm sorry, that wasn't my intention.

For the sake of argument, lets give Rojo credit for Chavis. He alone was the first to obtain this knowledge from the highest of A&M's inner circles and spread the good news. Lets go ahead and grant him that....

He was still caught blowing smoke about recruiting.

If nothing else, that alone means he isn't above self-aggrandizing his own importance or status. If you still want to chisel Spurrier in stone on nothing but Rojo's post, go ahead.

Yeah, it seems that the five commits he was calling around signing day was a legit thing where 2 (or was it 3 of them?) backed out literally at the last minute. I remember seeing that TexAgs staff and A&M staff felt all of those five were coming as well and were totally thrown for a loop.

Haha, not offended at all. In fact, your post supports Rojo more than it discredits him. That's the funny part. I haven't bought into the Spurrier deal even. I just find it ridiculous that the people on here put so much effort into trying to discredit Rojo based on their opinion, and their opinion only. As far as I can tell, there has been no proof that Rojo didn't have inside information on the DC hire. I mean, the timeline is the timeline. Would he have had to have called it 12 months before it happened to be given credit? Chavis signed when he signed. At this point, the ONLY facts that have been posted point to Rojo having the inside scoop on that being a done deal. People here seem to have conjured it up in their heads that someone else said it first. Again, not sure how, without proof, throwing a fit on the internet and *****ing about Rojo not having inside info is any different than an MFBarnes post. Until they can provide proof that he wasn't the first, those people are just making **** up. Period. Seems clear cut to me.
