I think kicker still gets protection like a QB would on an INT. Classified as defenseless meaning no head shots.

Defenseless never has meant you can't hit them.

Check your definitions. A legal kick was made. Behind neutral zone only means they can advance. A kick was made, then returned.

Yeah for some reason they don't want to die at early age or have a host of serious medical issues in their life from playing a GAME! I got lucky and made it through football without getting hurt but many of my friends have lived with a lifetime of knee issues and premature medical issues. As much as those hits look manly there is no reason for them.

I agree. Still defenseless by rule. Same as a QB on pursuit after interception.
