True enough, but if it's not glaring/clear, don't make the call.
The trouble is, those plays are inconsistently called.

Refs purpose should be to keep the game fair to both teams, allowing the best performance to win the game. Not to unduly influence its outcome.

I'm shocked the Baylor faithful are not up I'm arms about this. Wouldn't this call have given them a first down and had the spartan ejected? That would have changed the result of the game.
I'm glad baylol lost but texags would be on full meltdown if this happened to Lambo.

This thread makes me sad. It is like watching a loved one slowly die on life support.

It was a good block, nothing illegal about it. The gAme is dying when there is a 4 page thread arguing why a hard hit should be illegAl in football.

Glad the kid is OK,but there was zero wrong with that block.

I think since it was during the return, the change of possession would stand, but they would have had to go nearly the length of the field.

Understand, I don't like the fact that the powers that be are making big hits illegal. The reasons are good & bad IMO. I am just relaying what the book says. There is a judgement factor to flag /noflag.

I stated I probably would not flag it. But it COULD have been flagged based on the book as I see it.

It's not personal
I wouldn't have thrown either.

After watching this hit, I had to go Old Army on my kids and break out the Tony Brackens vs. tard kicker fake field goal fail (circa 1995); re-watched it on YouTube, and it's still just as brutal as I remembered it. I swear the kicker landed somewhere around the Gatorade tables on the track. Anyone else remember that?

The language is to protect Ks, not PKs. The moment he went after the ball carrier, he ceased being a PK anyway and became a defender.
