Cecil77 makes good point...the alumni center ring is antiqued.

Mine is antiqued, no diamond, and 10k so it wont wear down as quickly as the higher karat ones.

Definitely the best $1000 bottle opener I have as well.

Does anyone shower with their ring on? And would that cause major deterioration faster?

Just call around. they had mine for about three days. Bake on the antiquing and about a day drying time.

Got the white gold because it is more resistant to wear. I think it cost $5 more than the yellow gold. Sent it in recently and had it resized and detailed. Looks great! Instead of being approached with "Hey, I see you are an Aggie", I hear something like "Hey, is that an Aggie ring?"

Antique is the manly way to go. I worked construction for years and didn't take it off... EVER (not even for 8 years in the Marines) Put some black electrical tape over it when you need to be tactical. Glad I got the 10k because it is already pretty smooth. No a holes left on the bottom after only a few years.

Anyone else learn the "open a beer bottle" trick with it? I get looks of amazement on a regular basis on that one.

I bet one can antique their ring with some heel & sole edge dressing like some if us did in the corps. Just apply all over the ring and wipe off the ridges before it dries (or polish thru the dried stuff). Or you can let it all dry black and be a goth Aggie.
