Mine is "non-inked" with a full crest diamond.

I keep that beeaatch polished and make sure everyone in my office knows exactly where I went to school... GIG 'EM!

Antiqued with no diamond until you make your first million...that's the correct answer

I've only seen a white gold ring one time in my life... tailgate at Cotton Bowl before Cotton Bowl - dude had a sweet Submariner to flank it, but it did look strangely cool...

Natural. No diamond until you make your first million. Sized a quarter size down so that it doesn't fall off your hand - and can then wear it skiing, down the river, etc.

Best $1000 bottle opener I ever bought.

Those saying antique is "old style", wasn't natural originally the only option available?

White gold

I have a good friend who got white gold, despite me telling him it was a bad idea. He ended up selling it and buying a gold one within two years after we graduated. He said he was laughed at in multiple job interviews with Aggies, and most people just assumed he went to Texas State or something.

Antique was available in the 80's so not sure how "old" old school is regarding whether natural was the only choice "back then"

As for old, my grandfather's from the 20's was natural - at least appeared to be as it was very worn - but it was also about half the size/weight of current rings. So, whether natural or antique, it is not like the original rings.

Thank you for all the input... I've decided to go antiqued with no diamond (as if that was even a question)

Not natural. Probably rose. Or she got it stripped. Or she bought a replacement after 1998.

Had mine since 1979 and it was purchased natural and through Balfour.
Edited to say it could be rose but I am not sure what that is. Looks like natural gold to me.

From the 2nd page:
quote:
The natural finish was first offered in 1998.
“Other” includes rose (which has since been discontinued), white gold and polara.

So no, it was only antique. As for me: antique with a 10 point diamond, just like my old man's.

I meant original as in 1880s, not 1980s

No. My wife is '84 and has a non-inked 14K ring. It's been that way since she bought it. You saw a very few un-inked rings back then, but they were definitely available and definitely not rose.

As to which is the preferred, I submit:

Ignore the morons who say it antiques over time. It won't antique if you clean it, ever.

Get antiqued and if you don't like it you can strip it with paint cleaner.
