One factor could be what your future profession and what sort of setting you will be working in.
I work in an office environment and interact with all kinds of different clients, so I went with natural because I think it fits the bill a little better than antique does.

I know both (OA and Corps) who have natural, agree with part 1 of your post, though.
Natural is the only way to go. It will antique itself over time.

Real old Ags call it "inked". Never heard of "antiqued" until ten years or so ago. I know that uninked is popular, but it looks a bit feminine to me.

Mine is Antiqued, just like my Dads!
I wish I had gone with antiqued.

I work in an office environment and didn't want the "flashiness" of natural.
Bottom line is that it's personal preference.

1998 was the first year balfour offered natural finish. Prior to half-hour winning the exclusive ring contract, natural was available from a variety of ring makers as were various gems
