Assume Manziel goes to the NFL after this year, how does the QB situation pan out assuming all three of these guys prove to be quality college QBs?

2014: Hill Starts, Kyle Allen Redshirt
2015: Hill Starts, Kyle Allen backuyp, Murray RS
2016: Kyle Allen starts, Murray backup
2017: Kyle Allen starts, Murray backup
2018: Kyle Allen starts, Murray backup
2019: Murray Starts as RS Senior

I guess the odds are that at least one of the following happens:
1) One of those never quite develop as expected
2) One of those transfers
3) One of those guys gets injured

2016 is where it gets really interesting, as that's Hill's Senior year and Kyle Allen won't be content as a backup.

I agree that I trust Sumlin. He proved himself with the Manziel/Showers decision.

Having quality QB depth is a great problem to have and best QB deserves to be on the field. I just wish there was a way for it to work out for all of them.

Yeah, KH or KA going pro a year early makes everything work smoothly. But if they turn out to be good enough to go pro early, I'd rather them return for their Senior Year.

However, history shows that one of those guys will never quite develop. It's amazing to look at the history of #1 QB recruits in the country. Some of those guys just diasppeared in college.

Impossible to project accurately that far ahead on a college football team. You're not even considering other future QB recruits we will get.

Reminds me of listening to a Democrat after Slick Willie won in '92. According to that guy the Dems were going to hold the WH until 2008 since we all knew Al Gore would take his place and get re-elected too.

The Hill-Allen battle will be epic next year. Let's just see how it enfolds. And don't write off Joeckel. He looked damn good in that first half against Rice.

As I said, lots of variables. Not developing, transfers, injuries, etc. Hell, Kyler Murray isn't even committed yet.

Did you know Les Miles was an offensive lineman? For years his Offense has been awful, while his defense has led the Nation. Bill Belichick was a OL/TE in his playing days, then spent the first 20 years of his coaching career on the defensive side of the ball. A coaches college playing position doesn't always translate to their future coaching style.

are we really trying to forecast what people not even on campus yet will do in the future?

This is a good problem to have and like already mentioned...there isn't a better person to choose the best QB than Sumlin.

My wife has never started or participated in a conversation about our QB situation or defense. Neither has my sister or mother.

In fact, discussing the replacement for our Heisman winning QB and the glaring fault of this year's A&M football team seem like reasonable topics for a football message board.

Here at A&M? No. In one year he overachieved on defense, got our dc paid more than any dc we've ever had, and has recruited our best defensive class in 15 years.

Davis was beat out by a younger player. Big difference.

How many here have watched a Kyle Allen game? I have watched two now and he is great for a high school kid but a long way behind Kenny hill and its not close. Not to say he won't improve but there is a good chance there is a redshirt in his future.

Someone will probably emerge. At least one probably transfers.

Ideally, Hill or Joekel wins the starting job next year and we RS the other 2.
