Not sure of your point, but a Brigadier General is a "one-star" general...

And we wonder why people make fun of us so much.

It's a dog.

And yes I was in the Corps, I thought it was over the top then too.

Ragnar, I completely agree with your dog/prisoner value stance.

There were 20,000 people in Kyle Field for Rev4's funeral. I know, I was one of them.

This is a sad day for A&M. Our Traditions have value because of what they represent, not what they are. Next time you see the Stars and Stripes being raised or lowered, dont bother stopping to place your hand over your heart, or to salute if you are in uniform...after all, its just a flag.

I'm pretty sure you'd get a different opinion about "fking dogs" from someone who has a service dog...be it a disabled person, or a military or police dog, or a search and rescue dog, etc...

I am fine with the decision to lower the status of Rev's memorial to accomodate those with strong feelings about it relative to soldiers, but I wasn't bothered about it the way it had been done in the past, either. It was not the first, nor would it be the last time an animal had received such acknowledgement. Military horses of distinction historically had commonly been given exceptional funeral honors, and they're much less sentient than dogs.

I realize you're trolling, but Revellie provides no service. She doesn't help blind people, she doesn't sniff drugs or bombs or lost skiers, she doesnt carry secret messages. She's a pet.

Joe Ramirez, killing the Corps since ever

Do you even know Gen. Ramirez? The guy's a class act. Also, killing the Corps? I guess that's why membership is UP under his leadership.

Reveille is a "five-diamond cadet" not a five-star general. Joe Ramirez was in the US Army, not the US Marine Corps

Umm.... My first thought was that Rev VII was kind of a psychopath and terrorized handlers, yell leaders, and of course Qs. Any other dog would have been put down while she was a mascot.

People complaining about losing traditions and value all of a sudden over a dog funeral. But the star qb breaking the honor code, they ignore

No, I was a bass player in the FTAB. 2nd generation Aggie and Army officer. Did 11 years in the service including a tour in Afghanistan.

To say she is just a mascot is BS! A mascot normally only shows up at games and other sponsored events...She goes to formations, lives and goes to classes with the students.

I was raised that if you take on a pet, it should be treated as a member of the family. You can't give it away, put it down just because you are moving or don't want it anymore.

Sad to say, I see children today being treated the same way as pets.

What did those in the Corps in 1944 who started the tradition know about honoring veterans, and war, and death anyway?

The event will be a memorial, as opposed to a funeral, because Reveille VII will not be buried following the service. The past mascots are set to be exhumed because of the Kyle Field renovation, and officials made the decision to postpone burying Reveille VII until the new memorial is built. In the meantime, the dogs will be buried across the street on the lawn of Cain Hall, which is where the others were placed during the last stadium renovation.

Wait were about to dig up dead dogs? I did not think the zone area was going to be moved back. I dont understand why they need to dig up these graves?

Ok, she goes to formations and walks in parades. Big flipping whoop. She also eats out of a bowl and ****s outdoors. She only does those things because a human puts a leash around her neck and she follows them. She is a dog. No one is saying not to give her some type of service, but to say she should get military honors because she goes to formations with cadets is absolutely stupid.

Even for all of you who say she is a symbol for A&M, why do you think that symbol deserves the same salute as soldiers who died serving our country? This thread is insane.

Ramirez does not have E-2 at his best interest! He he out to get that outfit just because they are one of the few outfits that are not integrated with women and he cant stand that!

Please lets get a new leader!!!

Yes, they served their country. Reveille did not.

By that logic, do non-military federal employees deserve military honors? They potentially served their country to the same extent as non-combat military. Also leads into killing off Silver Taps and Muster.

Seems like a good compromise to me would involve the corps having a military-style funeral for the dog including taps and 21-gun salute w/o involving the actual military. Send Ramirez on a weekend getaway and have the funeral while he's gone.

I know of quite a few people that are missing some of those things.

Also, I absolutely value my dogs lives over the lives of serial killers and rapists. I'm curious as to how that makes me a psychopath?

It does seem to follow pretty logically that you would value something that is loyal, friendly, and loving, over a human that is as close to pure evil as a human can be.

I also don't think it's appropriate for Rev to have a military funeral... but to say that some dogs aren't better than some people is crazy. My dogs are absolutely better than quite a lot of people.
