up to $5 by 1960. It's nothing like you see on the screen. Was a hard to find turn-off off from a country road that was hard to find too. Seemed like a long drive up the road, but probably the anticipation had something to do with that, and was called the chicken ranch because old farmers traded chickens for "treats", and chickens were wild up and down that road to the house. You'd see 'em nesting in the trees along the drive. It was one story but spread out. The biggest thing offensive about it was the "quarter for the juke box?" request and "dollar for a coke?". Outrageous prices! The one thing that was authentic about both "Best Little" and "Junction Boys" was the large black lady greeter saying, as you approached the door, "you boys 18??" and then laughing when we 8th graders said "yeah". And, yes, many were sip co-eds.
