A "good time" for $3 was probably pre WWII. It would have been much more expensive later on. Some of us were stunned when we found out that $10 would give you a "short time" and $20 an overnight in 1983 Korea. Dad ('44) says he didn't have the money back then to go.
When the "Best Little ***** House" came out, was in Germany when the play came out. Some a**hole and his wife were giving me a hard time about being an Aggie and going to the Chicken Ranch. I popped off that it was the only way an Agggie could date a t-sip sorority girl. So the woman angrily says "I was in a sorority at UT". By this point the entire room is listening to us. I ask her, "What year? We may have dated! You weren't the one that did ice cube trick were you?". She wasn't happy and she stormed out of the room followed by her husband. Just like a "sip" can dish it out but can't take it.
