You could try this trick my HS classmate did to get school called for the day.

During the cold part of the winter, he went to the bus barn, and he unplugged all the block heaters for the batteries, thus the school busses did not start the next day. The whole district cancelled school.

I guess you would have to start praying for extended periods of sub zero weather and find a reason why the university had to have busses functioning anyway.

This is the beginning of real life.....soon you will have a job that keeps you from catching a game and you will not understand. Or, if you are lucky.....you will own your business and a very important client will need to see you at a time that seems least convenient.....but.........just enjoy your dam time as a student!

So take the test and ACE it....and stop thinking like you are a victim!

Who's the Prof? That's a joke. Sorry, I think there should be some adjustments at least.

NB: I am a professor-type. I do this for a living now. And yes, I ruined one fall semester by spending too much time on 3rd stack. 17 hours at 3.0, but then again that was more than just one night. Anyhoo...

Suck. It. Up.

You knew when the semester started that there was an exam scheduled for a Thursday night. You can ask permission to take the exam early but a) be prepared for the tenured s.o.b. to be a total c0ck about it and/or b) be prepared to take a MUCH harder version of the exam if and when you do. Remember that you are probably one student out of a crapload, and unless the whole class is going to stand behind you in solidarity, you are going to lose this argument 99 times out of 100. It would help to be quite deferential; it would also help if you got a very decent score on the previous exam and have been to class on an ultra-regular basis.

Professors hate whiners. God knows I do. It's even in my syllabus: no sob stories. Are you at my beloved Aggieland to learn something (which, it being an engineering class, you just might) or are you there to drink beer and watch football? Yes, yes, you can do both, but time and place, man, time and place!!!

Suck. It. Up.

Important disclaimer: this is part of the reason why I switched to giving all online exams over a multi-day window, so that I don't have to hear "Oh, I couldn't take the test because during that time I had to ________." Geez, if you can't find time during the 75-120 hour window I typically give, you have no business being in school.

It's also why I quit teaching night classes and Saturday classes. RHIP, students, RHIP.

If we win it is not like we beat Alabama or anything. Hell, a couple of months ago most on here thought this was a gimmie. If we lose it is not worth screwing up your grade. If we win, it will be good, but not worth screwing up your grade.
