The corps is important to the university. They served as an embarassment to the university last night, though, Arlington, and some of the blind comments made by you guys giving the okay on a guy being blindsided punch is ridiculous. You know what else, 2 NU lineman stood in front of him and said something, and he backed off. Why did he not defend himself then? Wimp--had to blindside a guy. The rest of the nation that watched this game is shocked and I am embarassed.

If the field is such a holy place what the heck are we doing playing football on it?

The kid I saw punched didn't even look like he was old enough to be a student, but I could be wrong. After the incident, a photographer ran over to the turd and took probably a dozen pictures of him. This isn't Nebraska's tradition, it's ours. They kicked our ass, so who cares if they run on our field. We should be more worried about winning. The corps always wonder why they get a bad name, yet they repeatedly act stupid. God, this is embarrassing.

I've said it before, and I will say it again: This is not a Corps/Non-Reg issue. I am a non-reg, and I would have jacked that guy too. Next time, Nebraska fans will think twice about rushing our field. That being said, I better not see ANY aggie rush someone elses field, or I hope that aggie gets jacked too. It is utter disrespect to rush someone elses field. Rush your own damn field. They should have the fish surround the field after home every game. If we win, they can leave their spot and go get the Yell leaders. If we loose, they can stand their ground and keep people off the field.

Aggies hitting Nebraska fans.
Aggies hitting Aggies.

We are a mess. Maybe our self-righteousness at last year's incident was misplaced. Why were we defending a patch of Jones Stadium after the game, anyway? You can't tell me that THAT is sacred ground as well?!?!

no, Jones SBC Stadium, the northeast corner in particular, is indeed a memorial, I just decided that.

TxAg88 got it right.

It appears that the majority of Ag posters on here would agree. Too bad it's not unanimous.

I cannot believe people posting on here see no problem with a fan from another school running on to our field. If A&M were to ever win a big game on the road and I were to leave my designated seat and pump my fists high in the face of 60k, 70k fans I would expect to see a few fists thrown my way.
Obviously what that cadet did was wrong. This is not a Corps issue. Most students in the same position would have done the same thing. Football games bring out our emotions. I believe that the cadet realizes what he did was wrong. After being in the corps for four years I'm tired of hearing about this corps vs. non reg bs.

I am not saying that I agree with what the CT did, because I don't, Kyle Field is not and never has been a memorial; but on the other side of the coin is this...
Nebraska brags about how classy they are and from what I have seen in 97,98,& 99, they are, but rushing the field of an opponent in my opinion is one of the worst shows of sportsmanship that fans can display. It is just plain disrespectful and is basically rubbing it in the face of the team you just beat. This is not the type of action that I ever would have expected to see from the NU fans.
My opinion is that BOTH the NU fans and the CT's took their reaction to the win/lose too far, especially for two schools that USED to have fans with a lot of class.

As TxAg88 said, the NU fan had turned around, after the OD restrained him from going farther, and was going back in the direction he had come from. The OD ran back to him from behind and hit him in the back of the head. Completely uncalled for, even if the guy was making derogatory remarks. They used to make an announcement over the PA system about staying off the field when the game ends. I expexct we'll start hearing these again.

Losing the Corps would be worse for the University than losing Bonfire.

Arlington03 do you have ANY idea how insensitive this comment of yours is. We've lost Bonfire because an accident occured that took the lives of 11 students and 1 former student. I'm not advocating disbandment of the corps, but how in the world would that be worse for A&M than losing 12 promising lives. What a HORRIBLE comment.

for one, everyone has to realize the corps of cadets are A STUDENT ORGANIZATION, just like everyother student organization, u say why weren't there non regs protecting our field? because non regs aren't allowed on the field, they get there special treatment or they say they earn it, for joining a student organization in which they know what is going to happen when they join? They don't deserve anymore special treatment, this is all stupid, I have the utmost respect for the corp, but 95% of them are idiots who think that them being in a damn uniform makes them better than everyone else.

Like it or not, rushing the football field is not a crime. Some of you guys are incredibly brainwashed in defending what happened Saturday.
Whoop2001, you're right about one thing: I'm sure I might see things differently had I been in the Corps. That's another reason why I'm glad I wasn't.
