I'd turn the OP's list upside down.

This is true, however in this discussion we are talking fast food burgers

I miss the good ol' Cowpie and Fries with Mushrooms, eaten in a room where you can see the ground under the floorboards.

Now that's a burger ! ! Ol' Army cowpie from the Cow Hop. I'd put Chicken Oil 'Death' Burger in there, as well. But, for fast food convenience & consistentcy . . . . It's Whataburger all the way.

Texas Burger is not a DFW thing. It's a long time small town burger chain (Madisonville, Fairfield, Hempstead, Cameron). Don't have any idea how many remain, but, for a 'mid-point to the drive' burger stretch, also very very good. Great shakes & fries ! !

Burger Depot (formally Dairy Mart) in Beeville, Texas. Fresh ground round, charbroiled, homemade french fries or onion rings, and all the free refills of soda brought to your car!

Funny, but, you don't really realize how much Whataburger has been woven into your fabric until your not living within the Mother State. Lived out-of-state twice (CA & now AZ). Of course, the rage out West is In-N-Out. It's good, don't get me wrong, but, it's more cult following & tourista than flavor, craving & satiety . . . . Whataburger is the undisputed KING of Texas Fast Food Burgers ! ! !.

One of the few things I miss about Texas is Burger House in Dallas (the one in Addison, specifically).

Carls' Jr. is the best. The other's are just fast food hamburgers. One of the best burgers I ever had though was at the old Bulwinkle's off Texas, just south of campus. Closed sometime around '98 I think.

Whataburger in a small town is 10xs better than one in a big city. All is Austin and most in Houston suck, but still best fast food burger

Don't like five guys at all, tasteless

tricknee, Bulwinkle's burgers were good. I remember the bun seemed slightly sweet.

Whataburger. We were both born the same year. I was introduced to my first one when I was 12 and we've never been apart since.

If Carter's Burger is still there in Bryan on Texas by the HEB, it is the same as Texas Burger. Even uses the same cups.
