Yeah, that looks pretty cool. Find a way to combine it with PZ Rides, and I'm all in.

Regardless, it would be awesome to a range indicator for Power Zones on rides like they have for cadence and resistance. I'm sure there's some heavy coding lift in the background for that since it would be tailored by use, but it should be doable.

Whatever it is, I think it's a good feature and they need to keep the momentum going.

I think some of these features will be much better on the Bike+ where the bike will be adjusting the resistance for you. Seems like a great way to get people to take their minds off the mechanics of what and how they are doing it and just follow the visual cues.

Just did a little test run on a 15 min lanebreak. Good stuff. Another day I will do an advanced ride and see what we can do. This is one of the better things Peloton has came out with in a looonnngggg time. One thing that would be cool, is doing a "session" or live ride of this.

Lanebreak was interesting. I did a 20 minute one and actually got great output. I'm not sure if I could go much longer than that, as it can only keep your interest for so long, as opposed to an instructor talking to you the entire time. It just got a bit repetitive towards the end, and it felt like I was constantly adjusting my resistance, which just got annoying to keep reaching down all the time, and my cadence, due to the numerous breakers (see my charts below). I have the Bike+, and I just wonder the wear and tear I'm putting on the motor that controls the resistance when I change it this frequently.

The main benefit I see is that it incentivizes staying within the target metrics, as opposed to normal rides, where it's difficult for me to not just go all out. Similar to Power Zone classes, I suppose.

I feel like they could easily duplicate something like Zwift, but with a live guide that has an avatar or something. Kind of like a live guided bike metaverse. A lot of opportunities ahead, and this Lanebreak game is hopefully the start of more to come.

Yeah, I am guessing this is their "pong" version of where they intend to eventually go with this new capability. Thanks for the review.

decided to do an easy 10 min low impact ride after my run today, turns out it was my century ride. Way to waste that one

Good luck with that!
'So many milestones here today' the instructor says with five minutes left in class having never mentioned the leaderboard during the previous 40 mins

Meh, I don't ride that much, mostly easy rides on boring conference calls, so not much point. It was just weird getting a bunch of high fives when I started, then saw the 100 badge pop up and it made sense.

Tried lane break yesterday and really liked it. Highly recommend if you're looking for a ride with just music and some freedom in the metrics

Took delivery of my Bike + on January 20 and have done at least one workout every day since. 31 days in a row! Most days I add strength, yoga, or stretching before or after a ride. I'm definitely developing a habit.

I don't consider myself to be very competitive, but, surprisingly, I've found the leaderboard to be one of the most motivating things for me. I set a new PR every day over the last week in my 30 minute rides because there was always someone right behind me and I pushed myelf to not let them pass.

You should record that and play it on a loop... for inspiration.

Who else signed up for the PZPack Challenge?

I've done them before, but took the last 12 months mostly off and got out of shape. I was previously randomly added to a team that was Boo Crew centered, which wasn't really my thing. I'm now randomly on T3-36 - are any of y'all on my team? It appears as a Matt W fan club.

I decided to sign up last second - I wish I planned ahead to check in here to see what team y'all are on. I'm hoping it inspires me to ride at least 3 times/week - we moved last April and I haven't been able to settle in a good routine.

I'm planning to keep my PZ score from when I was in much better shape - let me know if that's a horrible idea.

If you plan on using your same FTP, you are going to have a bad time. I would test again the week before. It will prevent you from frustration.

I'm not doing the challenge this time, since I am getting ready for MS150 and need to spend more time outdoors.

I just recently completed the 5 wk pz challenge. I started it mid January.

I would highly recommend doing a new ftp to be realistic when you start. I thought my ftp was a little low to begin, but the the program definitely had a number of very challenging sessions. The rides got easier through out the 5 weeks.
At the end , I raised ftp about 30 points. I've done a few pz rides since I completed the program and can definitely feel the difference with my new higher ftp on the bike.

I think it's a bad idea to just leave your old ftp and hope for the best. Will be VERY hard to complete the challenge if you do that.

Definitely make sure to update your zones. It will be just a miserable experience if they aren't at least semi-accurate to your current fitness level.

The goal of PZ is to do the workouts and get better and if it's too hard (or easy) you see more likely to quit or get bored.

Unfortunately I won't be able to take the PZ Test before Wednesday of next week (we're going out of town), then wouldn't be able to get my 3 rides in. I may just take off 10% and see how that feels.

I also lack the desire to take it - I'm a little concerned I'd die if I did.

I realize that kind of defeats the purpose of Power Zones... maybe I can retest in week 2

im skipping this go around to focus more on lifting

I've started lifting in the morning then doing a 30 minute pz in the afternoon. im rolling through all the 30 minute pzs and right now I've got a whole host of Christine led rides that im just avoiding but i think im almost to the point where i might have no choice.

I signed up. I did 3 challenges last year, the first this year and currently completing the "in between" challenge that ends this week.

I was randomly assigned to a team last year and have stayed with them, 3-57.

I'll take another FTP before Monday. As others have said you'll get more out of the challenges if your FTP is up to date.

#AggieJames on the leaderboard!

I'm a Peloton newbie and have only had my Bike + for about 2 months. At first, I found that I was spending 5 minutes or more trying to find a class I wanted to take. I felt like I was wasting time, so I started one of the programs so I could just take whatever class was up next in the que. That way, I was given an introduction to a variety of instructors and class types. I also had something else to blame if I didn't like the class. LOL

I finished the Mastering the Basics Program and just completed the 5th class in the Discover your Power Zones Program. I took my first FTP test yesterday, but not sure I did it right since I feel like I still had gas in the tank when it was over. I guess I'll stick with these FTP results as I continue the program and make adjustments if I feel like it's necessary.

One critique: I wish the PZ the instructor wants you in would display on the screen somewhere, similar to Cadence and Resistance on non-PZ rides. I found myself forgetting which zone I was supposed to be in every now and then on the last couple rides.

I do agree with the target power zone comment. Not that I've ever forgot, I always do Matt wilpers rides and I feel like he reminds you every 15 seconds, but just because it shouldn't be hard to add.

For finding rides, as I said, I always do Matt wilpers rides. When I get on the bike a screen pops up that says something like "Matt wilpers has 5 new rides," I click on it and it takes me to a page that's filtered for just his rides. So I just do one of his new ones or, if non fit what I want that day, scroll down until I find one. Never spend more than a minute looking, though.

This is one of the most-requested items on the PZ Facebook group. However, it took them several years just to add a pause button, I expect we may see this feature added sometime around 2025.

got me a double shout out today in Bec's 60 min run that I did as part of my long run. Turns out it was my 700th run

I'm hopefully with this new CEO and direction the changes will come faster because something like displaying the proper zone shouldn't take long to incorporate.

I really want better class descriptions that have the class structure. I have mostly switched to doing the running classes off the app and I know the tread has started to give you more detailed structure, but why can't they do that for everyone?

Pretty great that they found a way to sync Apple Watch heart rate with the old bikes.
