Wish this news came sooner, but hiring a guy that's been with Netflix and Spotify tells me they want to stand alone and be their own company. Great move, just a shame the old CEO held on as long as he did...but it was his baby, after all.

Does anyone have issues with their shoes? I got my normal size but they are too narrow in the toe box. I'm wondering if I could stretch them or if buying the new shoes with half sizes would be better.

This happened to me, but I have the original shoes. Had to go up a full size and they fit perfectly, but still not what I would call comfortable. I'm curious to hear from people who have tried both - are the new ones more comfortable?

How long have you had them? Mine felt tight at first but eventually wore in.

Less than two months and I didn't ride in January. You bring up a good point, maybe I just need to break them in more.

I would like to know this too. Specifically, a comparison vs. the OG. I need to look into the return policy, might give them a try and send back if they don't ride well. The OG just did not fit my foot well at all.

No experience with peloton shoes, but I'd be a little wary of continuing on with small shoes and hoping they stretch out. Maybe not as big of a deal with a peloton and typical 30 minute rides, but if you get into longer rides feet falling asleep because of poorly fitting shoes is a real thing.

If you don't see yourself ever doing 90+ minute rides or cycling outside, probably not an issue.

I love the new shoes over my original Peloton shoes. Much more airy I think.

I wear normal tennis shoes during my outdoor rides and don't have any issues. I do feel like my toes get numb and tingly even during Peloton rides though. Should I take that as a tell-tell sign that they are in fact too small?

In reality it could be a lot of things. They could be too small, they could just be fastened too tight, the cleats could be mounted in a poor position. But if you think they're too small, that's probably it.

Good breakdown

Mine was how my cleats were attached to the shoes

The stock has fallen 76% from its high, it is also cutting 2800 jobs.

was I the only one surprised to learn they had 2800 employees able to canned?
But then again, every time I go by a PTON store, there are at 3 or 4 people in there standing around. The storefronts where nice as proof of concept but maybe they wont be needed as the brand has developed a reputation of quality and a pretty loyal customer base

i dont' think they are needed at this point. I know when we were originally deciding on the bike, i had the wife go do a test ride at a store b/c we didn't know anyone that had one, at least not locally. but at this point, i think they have the brand and if someone really needs a test ride, its not hard to find a friend with a bike.

What about the test ride "sold" her? I mean I really can't think of a need to test it out at all. I understand some people just want to put their hands on it, so to speak. But I really can't think of something I'd find in a 5 minute test ride that told me nope, not the bike for me. Unless it was just a really poor build, but I generally trust DC Rainmaker and others' reviews for stuff like that. We never even sat on a peloton before buying ours.

My wife did the same in that she wanted to go get on one in the store and have somebody explain it all to her in terms of features. Didn't really seem necessary to me, but whatever works for her.

Yeah, my wife has always done spin classes so kind of knew what to expect. I showed her the peloton and peloton + dc rainmaker reviews then we watched a couple more suggested youtube videos from those reviews and she was sold and knew she wanted the plus.

Again, I know people are out there that want a hands on experience. But I'm just curious what's actually gained and the percentage. Even in the earlier days, how many people wouldn't have bought a peloton if they couldn't ride it in a store?

Edit: We did go to the store to buy it anyways but just because she wanted to help local employees and read something about how they wanted everyone to go into the store to buy them to help their tallies or whatever.

I think they have a hassle free return policy if you aren't satisfied with the bike within a certain period of time you can return it at no cost. Another point towards eliminating storefronts.

Just finished a fit session with Nick Burton with Team Wilpers. I had spent so much time making tweaks trying to fix one problem or another that I was a total wreck. Fit position was line a beach cruiser.

Lowered me 5 settings on the bars, 1.5 on the seat, and back 1 on the saddle along with adjusting my cleats and saddle angle. Feel like a champ now

I haven't finished the last 3 PZ Challenges because of calf strains and lower back issues. Can't wait to get back into it. Should have done this months ago

Cleat position made the biggest difference for me when I did my fitting.

Thank you for posting this! Seriously, I had been getting pain during my rides towards the front of my foot (nothing crazy but enough to be annoying). I positioned the cleats back yesterday and its gone. For reference, I am riding in the Nike Super Rep Cycling shoes and bought my cleats on Amazon. I guess when I installed them I just set them way too far forward.

Yup, I was pretty centered, and he had me slam them all the way down and in. He said the old knee-over-pedal-spindle methodology I was using over activates the foot for much of the stroke which transfers up to the calves.

I was bailing in Week 3-4 of all the challenges right as the intensity ramped up because my calves were just ruined

Do they do the bike fittings in the stores? I don't live too terribly far from the one in Plano.

Not sure about that, but Wilpers has an online service where they will do a fit for you via facetime/zoom or some video call platform. I have heard nothing but good things about it from those who have used it.

the bike was 90% for my wife, not me. She isn't the type to go read online reviews and has no idea who DC Rainmaker is. I wanted her to go do a test ride to make sure the classes, instructors, etc was something she would like and acuatlly stick with. Zero chance I was going to pull the trigger on it without that. It had nothing to do with the bike itself and everything to do with the content and the content delivery.

I'd get way more use out of a wahoo with zwift, but my wife would never use it b/c of the setup involved, so I wanted her to be sure it was something she was comfortable with. Hell, she gets "upset" if she has to adjust the seat after i use it, though its not like she would ever adjust the seat back for me either.

Wife and I have had our Bike+ for 3 weeks and ordered shoes as part of a bundle with the bike. She is true half size and had to go up to an 8 since the original shoes didn't come in her normal size. They were a little too big for her, but was OK. We ended up ordering a pair of the new shoes in 7.5 and she likes them a lot more than the original ones. They fit her better and feel more like tennis shoes. We kept her original pair since they fit my daughter well, so I'm not sure how the return process would have worked.

I have a pretty wide foot and my Peoloton shoes felt a narrow in the toebox at first, but have since stretched a little and fit great after riding nearly every day for the last 3 weeks.

I was adjusting the cleats, handlebars, and seat after every ride for the first couple weeks. I think I have it dialed in now, but I need to look at doing a fitting like others have mentioned. I'm not fully convinced I have the seat in the right position.

I did one with Dwayne from Team Wilpers before Christmas and it completely changed my riding experience. We adjusted seat, handlebars, cleats, everything. I was mad I waited so long!

Dropping the bars was one of the first things I did on mine. Like you said, beach cruiser settings. I've had normal bike fits over the years, so that helped dial in the settings.

Glad they got your settings figured out!

I go back and forth on getting a fitting. I've been slowly inching my seat up and back, So I think I'm close, but not as optimal as I could be.

I just worry they are going to suggest something that's just so far off I'm not going to like it.

If you're comfortable and riding well, you're probably fine. But they may help with stuff you don't realize is out of whack or bad habits you don't know you have. My experience with this and after years in long distance cycling confirms that it's really hard to dial in your own fit.

Unless your current fit has you completely awkward, any good fitter will not make drastic changes. They'll make little tweaks and then incrementally make changes. Anything drastic could lead to injury.

So is this the first step towards becoming less dependent on their instructors/classes?
